From Virginia Living magazine, August 2008 issue...
This excellent late-2007 release comes from a Richmond group that describes itself as "a honky-tonk band with two hard-talking sisters, a fiddler, a drummer and shots all around." Buttercup makes country noir – think George Jones in a David Lynch movie – and the husky-twangy vocals of Cassandra Cossitt and Octavia Carpin exude femme-fatale intrigue. The slow-moving "River of Whiskey" alone is worth the price of the disc – and a shot.
