Our friend Lanyelle from iKiLLCaRs has a new band of old friends called Broke Beads and he invited us to play with them at the Beerland show celebrating the release of his Killer Pebbles zine. It sounded like a fun time and it ended up being a fun time, but there was a lot of killed time on the way.
Nick & Brian were there to do the drone-screech laptop thing when we got there fairly early. They were set up and the drums for The Ends were set up, but nobody started playing until at least 11, kinda late for four bands to play. Nick & Brian only went on for 20 minutes or so, but The Ends had a full 45-60 minute set and were definitely in no hurry. They're a band on label and they brought about half the crowd to the show, so they can do what they want to do, but there ended up being not much more than one hour for us and Broke Beads to get on and out. Frustrating.
We got on, did a pretty tight show and got a little bit of a head of steam going toward the end of our set. By my watch, we were off the stage less than 40 minutes after starting to load on, and we helped Broke Beads get going, but they still only had about 20 minutes to play. I liked their music a lot, it was pure 90s basement guitar rock, mostly instrumental. Totally fun, go see them.
