Band of the Week: Gym Class Heroes

Gym Class Heroes is a Fueled By Ramen quartet from New York. Travis McCoy (vocals), Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo (guitar), Eric Roberts (bass), and Matt McGinley (drums) make up Gym Class Heroes, who have released two EPs and three albums since 2001. Gym Class Heroes is an "alternative hip hop" group, which means that Travis raps/sings, but there's also a full band. Gym Class Heroes has played the entire Warped Tour and just released their third full-length album, The Quilt. They are also heading out on tour, so check the tour spotlight below to see if they're coming to your town!

Album Review: The Incurable Tragedy

The Incurable Tragedy - Into Eternity (Century Media)
[Released September 2nd, 2008]

If you've heard of Into Eternity, you know they are a band that plays "progressive death metal". Their previous album, The Scattering of Ashes showed a lot of potential, but not all of it has translated to The Incurable Tragedy. The album is a concept album about a man suffering an incurable illness (cancer, specifically) and the emotion shows through the music.

There are quite a few awesome intros, and unlike the last album, the songs do not all sound alike which is great. If you're into death metal or screamo, you should give it a listen, but this album is not an essential one to own or listen to.
