Aight....

So I take a trip every year with my high school crew(its like 10 of us that go, male and female). We have been tight since middle school, so we take a week every year to take a trip to catch up, since we are all in different careers.....

So....My boy Jai(Dr. Favors, PhD in History to yall) started talkin bout music, and we came up with the TOP R&B ALBUMS OF OUR GENERATION 1985-1997.....

the criteria was.......

AT LEAST 5 BANGERS OR MORE....PERIOD....thats all.......
Had to be albums geared DIRECTLY to black folk....no "intentional" crossover albums....but if they did..they did.....(so no Michael or Janet Jackson albums after Thriller...LOL....and NO Whitney Houston)

debate with your friends....

HERE WE GO....

In NO Particular order...........
BOBBY BROWN-DON'T BE CRUEL
AL B. SURE-IN EFFECT MODE
KEITH SWEAT-MAKE IT LAST FOREVER
NEW EDITION-NE HEARTBREAK
GUY-GUY
JODECI-DIARY OF A MAD BAND
BBD-POISON
MARY J BLIGE-WHATS THE 411
MARY J BLIGE-MY LIFE
BRANDY-BRANDY
R KELLY-12 PLAY
ZHANE-PRONOUNCED "ZHA-NAY"
FAITH- FAITH
TLC-CRAZY, SEXY, COOL
JOHNNY GILL-SELF TITLED
TONY, TONI, TONE-SONS OF SOUL
D'ANGELO-BROWN SUGAR
BOYZ II MEN-COOLEYHIGH HARMONY
TONI BRAXTON-TONI BRAXTON
SWV-ITS ABOUT TIME

...............

take that take that.........

What about basic black-basic black and deja-made to be together? I would also put chuckii booker and mikki bleu first albums in there as well but that's just me...

Great list...but I might have to throw a couple more on there:

R. Kelly - R. Kelly
Boyz II Men - II (too crossover???)
Ginuwine - The Bachelor
Dru Hill - Dru Hill
Donell Jones - My Heart

I guess the whole 5 banger criteria is pretty subjective but I wore them CDs out!

Bobby Brown's "Don't Be Cruel" belong on there. I'd bump Toni off the list for that one, maybe even Brandy her album wasn't that deep.
