Yesterday Eric and I (mongo) went to citrus college in glendora for a  music class where Eric was asked to volunteer, for an afternoon, as the teacher for about 20 top level high school musicians. I have some pricelss footage of it hopefully put some up soon.  Imagine how stoked these kids were, after a session of questions and answers they couldn't wait to ask them to teach them some Sublime, and man did he look like he was having fun doing it.  The event was called Grammy Camp and it was a summer camp to teach kids about the music industry with an impressive list of the industries main names there from gear to artists, in a modern professional environment.  Apparently, Brad volunteered his time there too, so its pretty special to see the vibe continue.  Mtv did an interview with him for their online stuff, and i'll link it up when they get back to me. All the students got to jam with Eric, while he switched instruments playing the piano, drums, bass, and guitar. It was priceless for me to watch these kids ask Eric to show them how to play various songs, and all their favorite Sublime songs.   My favorite was caress me down, where the student musicians were fortunate enough to play with plenty of musical equipment to support such an event. This isn't the first time he's done charity events either, goes to show you how much of a down to earth dude he really is even through the years of success he's enjoyed. The man is a music machine.
Speaking of pretty rad down to Earth dudes, Shortbus is also up to some charitable events as well. I gave the band a used drum head that damion gave me and Ras divided it up into 4 sections, and its almost done. They didn't just scribble junk but really spent some time creating some amazing artwork, reflecting their admirable charitable nature. Its 3/4 done, and lookin killer. Now the band wants to take this beautiful piece of work and auction it off with ALL the proceeds going to either the ASPCA or the Humane society in Long Beach. This is the first project for them so if it goes well, they would like to do more projects that give to a positive cause.   I'll keep you all posted when the auction will start.  The band hopes everyone is well, and I just wanted to share some of the shortbus positive vibrations that are going on, with our friends, so you'd have something more to smile about when you go about your day today and perhaps even pass a smile on to someone else.

I just wanted to give a shout out to Eric W. for donating his time, and well being to help kids keep building they're musical drive and dreams. I've been playing bass for over 14 years and look up to Erics incredible bass style to where he is able to use the bass as an instrument that compliments the lyrics and vibe of all his projects (Sublime, Long Beach Dub, and Shortbus). Looking forward to seeing Shortbus' next show in LA and much love and respect to all the guys.
