"So Basically, you give us 60 quid as a deposit, which we of course give back to you, IF you do bring those 80 people along to this night that charges a 9 quid entrance fee.... The what?... oh, the Payment... Sure, you get paid 1 pound per head once you get past the 80 people that came to see you... So, you bring 87, you get 7 quid to share amongst yourselves. Whaddya say, are we cool?"

Nope. We aint cool. And the above excerpt is hardly exaggerated.

They dont all do it, but many do. And is it really going to hurt you to stick a dozen Cans of Lager in the fridge for the band? They’re generally livelier onstage when slightly inebriated, dammit.

So please, a bottle and/or a few quid would be highly appreciated... unless of course you’re doing a free entrance gig, in which case, we already like you very much.

Fear and Loathe the Buck-sniffing opportunist.

Love thy friend the music-loving promoter.

We agree too!!!! I hate turning up to a venue and there is NO passing trade. All they rely on is the bands to bring a crew!!!

Do you guys know of any venues that 1) provide a good crowd and 2) any venues you would recommend, please list!!!???

Cheers

Hey man,

we wish we had the secret as well, ut on average, we are on the "bring your friends" circuit. Which is not good for the dreams I conceed.

It is always harder to play in the venues that have regulars and bands with followers, especially without paying managers or sucking a promoter's dick. But we have had some luck with MAdame Jojo, the Jamm, the 12 bar and the Windmill (where we're playing again as you knownext Tueday) in the past. Check them out and try to get in it is worth it. There should be more but I can't think of any. Of course, festivals can be good, even small festivals can get you some bigger crowd than expected...

Good luck with it and let us know if you get luckier than us.
