Well, " Dirty Laundry " might not have won, but it was an honor for Maurice Jamal to have been nominated.  This talented brother worked and made it happen and did a great job as the director and writer.  Many of you know that yours truly was in the hilarious film as Cedric Tate the choir director.  It was a pleasure to have worked with Rockmond Dunbar , Loretta Devine , Jenifer Lewis , and Terri J. Vaughn in this amazing film that is a story of a young man that has to come to terms with his reality and be trust that his family is going to still love him no matter what happens.  If you have not seen this movie you must go out and get the DVD because it will make you laugh out loud.

Continuing in gangster news ...I was in the courtroom myself when Atlanta rapper T.I. cut a deal and for the most part got off with a slap on the wrist.  The fame he gained glorifying violence in his music cut a deal on that Thursday that kept him out of federal prison in the coming year and on the road preaching nonviolence to kids, something that he never would do if he was not headed to jail.  T.I ., whose real name in Clifford Harris Jr ., faced a minimum of 4 years 9 month behind bars after he was caught last fall buying machine guns and silencers in an undercover sting.  But if Harris abides by his extraordinary plea agreement, he will spend less than a year in prison.  Before he surrender to begin serving time, he must perform at least 1,000 hours of community service telling ids about the pitfall of crime, drugs, and gangs and encouraging them to respect the law.  The details of Harris' plea deal were outlined during an hour-long hearing in which he pleaded guilty to two charges of illegally possessing firearms and another for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.  Perhaps one of the world's best-known rap artist, Harris was arrested on October 13, 2007 just hours before he was to receive two awards at the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta. 

Harris , 27, was wearing a gray sharkskin suit, was smiling as he walked up to a bank of microphones outside the federal courthouse after his plea.  He vowed to dedicate himself to changing the lives of young people.  "I'm not looking forward to being incarcerated," Harris said.  "I have a long road of redemption to travel...I realize completely I violated the law, and I take it very seriously."  U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr. scheduled Harris' sentencing for March 27, 2009.  If the musician abides by the conditions of his plea agreement, Pannell is bound to impose a prison sentence of one year plus one day.  He is expected to serve less than a year, however.  Because of the quirk in Bureau of Prisons rules, inmates get credit for good behavior--and can carve off 15 percent of their incarcerations--only if they are sentenced to more than a year.  The agreement also says that if Harris does not abide by the conditions in his plea and no longer accepts responsibility for his actions, Pannell can slam him with a sentence of more than 8 years in prison.  Harris was also fined $100,000 and sentenced to a year's home confinement.  He has been out on $3 million bond, and he will get credit for the time spent in home confinement since late October and any time he spends at home in the coming year.  "He can perform, act in movies and carry on with is business until the end of the 12-month period," said Ed Garland, one of Harris' six attorneys.  All the while, a private security officer will shadow Harris and report on him if he strays. 

Clifford Harris is no stranger to trouble and has had a string of run-ins with the law since 1997 that has placed him in jail or under arrest, including in 1998 crack cocaine distribution conviction in Cobb County.  His career took off after he devoted himself to rap music.  His 2003 CD, " Trap Muzik ," was well received and " T.I. vs. T.I.P ." topped the charts last summer.  In May of 2006, tragedy struck Harris after his show before a raucous crowd in Cincinnati.  As his entourage drove away, one van was hit by gunfire.  One of Harris ' friends and assistant was shot and killed, and his head of security was wounded.  The shooters have not been identified.  Over the next year and a half, T.I. appeared to be assembling enough weaponry to start a war or end one, depending upon how you look at it.  For your recollection, last September and October, one of Harris' bodyguards bought nine firearms for Harris .  The bodyguard, whose name has not been disclosed, took the weapons to Harris ' College Park home.  Inside, the bodyguard saw a false wall hiding a walk-n safe loaded with weapons, Assistant U.S. Attorney Francey Hakes said.  On October 10, Harris gave the bodyguard $12,000 cash to buy machine guns, but the bodyguard was arrested after he bought the weapons from an undercover agent for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives.  Now cooperating and wearing a hidden wire, the bodyguard arranged to meet Harris on October 13 at the parking lot outside of a Publix Supermarket in an area of Atlanta known as Midtown.  He handed over three machine guns and two silencers to Harris , who was soon arrested by agents.  Inside Harris ' car, agent found three loaded handguns and a magazine of ammunition in the pocket of an Armani coat in the back seat.  Later that day, law enforcement searched Harris ' home and found at least six more weapons, various empty boxes that once contained a number of pistols and numerous rounds of ammunition. 

T.I. might not have actually learned his lesson at all.  The rapper born Clifford Harris was out on his community service rounds to keep his jail sentence to the year and a day got into a little beef.  That is right T.I. was speaking to a group of under privileged youth at Morehouse College last Friday when things got heated.  T.I.'s people set up a partnership with some of the students at Morehouse for the rapper to speak to the group after a tour and visit at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr,'s alma mater when things got violent.  Word from eye whiteness said it was the second day of a two day visit by T.I. to the school according to a student organizer of the event that would like his name not to be mentioned. "The first day was fine and we actually were looking forward to the second visit on Friday, which was our final community service project of the school year and he ruined it," the student scared.  Apparently during T.I. so called speech or talk to the students he was asked a question about college and his response was something like everyone is not college material and the some of the young people should look at other options such as trade schools.  However a Morehouse Student challenged Harris on his theory and stated publicly that the entire purpose of the event was to encourage the youth to work hard and go on to college.  True to the saying that you can tell a Morehouse Man, but cannot tell him much, could not have been more accurate.  The student also said that T.I. using himself as an example of a successful person that did not go to college is far more unrealistic then an athlete with dreams of going pro.  Well, T.I. could not take the embarrassment and tired to go after the student right in the lecture all of the Maynard Jackson Leadership Center .   It was so bad that T.I. own bodyguards and security had to stop him.  Two really large guys had to hold him back from hitting the guy that questioned his flawed theory.  

A number of school districts in Georgia our not allowing the rapper that plead guilty to weapons charges to come near their schools.  Cobb County and Atlanta Public Schools have turned T.I. and the Grand Hustle camp down like bed spreads when request by his staff were made for him to visit various schools.  One Atlanta School Board member was called by one of Harris' staff members and he later was brought in on the conference call where he requested several times and practically begged to be allowed to come to the schools and mentioned that he need to do over 1000 community service hours.  The Board Member shared with Obnoxious that for that reason she did not agree to make a case for him.  " T.I. was not sincere in his request and most likely would not even do something like this if he was not in trouble," they explained.  As I continued to talk to the Atlanta School Board member we discussed that far too many times the bad guys are rewarded for doing the wrong thing and people that stand for right often go un-noticed.  Additionally, we talked about what he was going to do with the guns had he not been arrested and that someone's life might have been saved by his going to jail on that night.  Face it T.I. is sending the wrong message and here we have him being celebrated for being a criminal. 

Everything Is Going Down, But The Word Of God ...Contrary to popular belief it is very difficult for me to report on a number of issues and church and fallen church leaders is especially one topic that I find extremely difficult to write about for a number of reasons.  Due to Obnoxious being a social commentary that shapes and models public opinion and tell just like it "IS".  Please be clear that I do not get any enjoyment out of reporting on fallen pastors and my humor might have been misinterpreted as jesting or making fun of the individual, which is not the case at all.  Many of these situations are so hurtful and mind blowing that if I can make you laugh as an attempt to soften the blow.  Additionally, I want you all that think it is so awful for a reporter, journalist, columnist, or any person in media to talk about a fallen church leader to think about all the people that leader has mislead, used, and abused before you pass judgment no the massagers

The 80-year-old leader of a suburban Atlanta megachurch is at the center of a sex scandal of biblical dimensions:  He slept with his brother's wife and father a child by her.  Members of Bishop Earl Paulk's family stood at the pulpit of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit at Chapel Hill Harvester Church not long ago and revealed the secret exposed by a recent court-ordered paternity test.  The truth is this is not the first--or even the second--sex scandal to engulf Paulk , who seems to be as big of a freak as he was pastor, the independent, charismatic church.  But this time, he came close to being in trouble with the law for lying under oath about the affair.  Yes, the good bishop is a lied on the stand after swearing on the same Bible that he says he is called to preach from. 

The living proof of that lie is 34-year-old D.E. Paulk , who for years was known publicly as Earl Paulk's nephew.  "I am so very sorry for the collateral damage it's caused our family and the families hurt by the removing of the veil that hid our humanity and our sinfulness," said D.E. Paulk , who received the mantel for head pastor a year and a half ago.  D.E. Paulk said he did not learn the secret of his parentage until the paternity test.  "I was disappointed, and I was surprised," he said.  Earl Paulk , his brother, Don , and his sister-in-law, Clariece, did not return my calls for comment.  A judge ordered the test at the request of the Cobb County district attorney's office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which was investigating Earl Paulk for perjury and false-swearing charges stemming from a lawsuit.  The bishop spoke in un-known tongues when he lied on the stand about is multiple affairs.   Paulk , his brother, and the church are being sued by former church employee Mona Brewer, who says Earl Paulk manipulated her into an affair from 1989 to 2003 by telling her it was her only path to salvation.  Earl Paulk admitted to the affair in front of the church last January.  In a 2006 deposition stemming from the lawsuit, the archbishop said under oath that the only woman be had ever had sex with outside of his marriage was Brewer.  But the paternity test said otherwise. 

Chargers were filed against Bishop Paulk and he was arrested, but later let go.  It seems that due to his age his attorney was able to convince the judge and District Attorney Pat Head to let to old freaky preach off.  The paternity test results should not come as a shock to the congregation due to the decade of sex scandals and lawsuits involving the Paulks .  "It was necessary evil to bring us back to a God-consciousness," said the younger Paulk , explaining that the church had become too personality-driven and prone to pastor worship.  Well, this could be due to the leader of the large church was ruling the women with his penis, instead of with prayer.  The flashy megachurch began in 1960 with just a few dozen members in the Little Five Points neighborhood of Atlanta.  Now, it is in the suburbs on a 100-acre expanse, a collection of buildings surrounding a neo-Gothic Cathedral.  For years the church was at the forefront of many social movements--admitting black members in the 1960s, ordaining women and opening it doors to gays.  At its peak in the early 1990s, it claimed about 10,000 members and 24 pastors and was a media powerhouse.  By soliciting tithes of 10 percent from each member's income, the church was able to build a Bible college, two schools, a worldwide TV ministry and a $12 million sanctuary the size of a fortress.  However, after all of the sex scandals and finding out the leader of the mega church was more like a freaky pimp than a pastor, today the membership is down to about 1,500 members, 18 pastors-most of them are volunteers, and the Bible college and TV ministry are a thing of the past.  The downward turn blamed largely on complaints about the sexual transgressions for the Paulks . 

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit has been more of a Cathedral of the ill-repute since 1992, a church member claimed she was pressured into a sexual relationship with Don Paulk .  Other women also claimed they had been coerced into sex with Earl Paulk and other members of the church's administration.  The church counted with a $24 million libel suit against seven former church member and they knew the entire time that it was all true
