Morning Mr Roth how does The Gallery find you this morning?
A little tired actually ;) ?You
got me just now at Singapore Airport stopping over from Australia going
back home to Berlin in the next hour ... but with some nice memories
from the last days in my head so I'm feeling good and still a little
pumped.?As many people know Aussie is everytime something very special
for Mr. Roth and so it was this time again ... was touring Brisbane,
Cairns, Adelaide, Sydney ending with two outstanding gigs in my capital
Melbourne :)
You are playing this coming Friday to launch
your international residency at The Gallery, tell us a little about
your history with The Gallery? haha ... yes, that's actually right ... when looking back definately a kind of history has happened here ..! =) ?I
still remember the first time playing at Gallery for Vaccine - in the
earlier days still happening @ turnmills - when I was first blown away
by the warm welcome of all the guys, then blown away by some whiskey
coke and finally blown away by this labyrinth ;) , so I got completely
lost not able to find my way out of this pleasure garden!
But
after a while and several years I got used to this maze by all means
like my London & UK fanbase got more and more used to me, so after
playing alongside the biggies like Above&Beyond, Oakenfold, Sander
van Doorn, Fergie, Josh Wink etc. and after the move to Ministry of
Sound I am very happy to do the next step now ...
You
are joining the international residents at The Gallery which include
Markus Schulz, Sander van Doorn and Hernan Cattaneo, tell us how that
feels? Honestly Gallery & MOS is a massive brand in my
opinion presenting every week the A-Liste worlds electronic music acts
and apart from that also everytime a highlight on my tours and
everytime a pleasure to come back as warm welcome is guaranteed each
time - so I am VERY proud to be able to join exactly THIS family now
... and then being added to the list of MS, SvD and especially Hernan
is really something outstanding for me and makes me try now even harder
to showcasing a terrific and excellent performance.
You are a busy producer, tell us a little about what you have coming up in terms of productions and originals? There
is a lot cooking currently in the MR kitchen - honestly soo much and
the intention was already to have all that out in summer so far, but
after the success of the NuStyle sound of the last months and the
corresponding demand of Remixes & Touring, I have underestimated a
bit the time which was taken away from me by touring a lot and
travelling to be honest.
What else does the coming months hold for you in terms of traveling and gigs? After
my stop at Gallery / MOS in September I will go down to South America
for 2 weeks followed by some stuff in Asia and Europe as well like
Russia, Finland and Poland - so the typical madness ;)
What three tunes are currently doing it for you? Kolombo - Je T'aime (Carlo Lio Remix)?Egostereo - Paeonia Size- Koebel (Nihad Tule Remix)
and my mixes for Lostep/Sashas "Burma" & Emmanuel Tops "Turkish Bazar"
... which are actually 5 now :S
?Which producer has really caught your attention of recent? It
is pretty hard nowadays to mention just one as so many new talents are
coming up or already established ones are doing massive new tracks. To
name a few guys, it would be Carlo Lio who ist doing some cool Techno
stuff, then I like Fergie atm a lot, who is putting out some great
products recently and also the one and only Eric Prydz can still never
fail with his progressive driven bassline oriented tunes under the
Cirez D and Pryda alias.
Which dj do you really rate who is coming through? Also
here - it is pretty hard to name just one as I have a lot of new and
everlasting favourites ... my hero is still Sven Vaeth, who is simply
the most charismatic and musicwise the msot influential one, then I had
been to a David Guetta gig and I was completely blown away and from
another camp not to forget MarLo - a Melbourne based new raising star
from Australia - he was playing alongside me and he is moving the crowd
- believe me! - so as you can see - I am into many genres and styles
and let myself inspire from everything which is crossing my life.
What are your three favourite non-dance music tracks? Depeche Mode - Enjoy the silence (actually I shouldn't pick just one track - I think every DM is my favourite) Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars The Killers - Mr. Brightside
... just to name a few ...
And your pet hate? C Bayern Munich .... ;o))
I
am supporting in the German (soccer) Bundesliga the Team of Hamburg
which is the "Hamburger SV" - and this really heavily since ages ... so
my mood is also changing a lot on the weekends depending how my team
has played ... so "Bayern Munich" was all the time not just for me the
pet hate ... but they are struggling a bit in the last years, so
actually this fact is making it even nicer currently ;)
