Just found out today that one of the provisions of the "Intoxicating Liqour / Public Order Bill 2008" is that no bar/club/venue will be able to open after 1am on Sundays.

This is gonna kill off Dancehall Styles and the bad news is it will be law and enforceable within weeks.

The Irish Nightclub Industry Association has a petition online that I urge you to sign, they have a meeting with the minister this Friday and it will help their cause if lots of people sign up:

Thanks for the comments people.... I have been looking into it and it seems even if it gets passed next week it has to go through a committie stage and then another vote in the Daíl... so it won't be in before they break up for school holidays (don't get me started!!)....

So we're safe till the autumn anyway. Watch this space though there is a good chance the Sunday thing can be altered before it goes through. If enough people complain to say that it makes no sense in 2008 with people working different hours, days etc. they might do a U-Turn.

More bad news from JA. Seemingly the dancehall scene is in trouble. The powers that be have banned any lyrical content and video that contains dance crazes that look too sexy, anything containing sex, drugs or violence. Mr. Vegas just got done. There was a new dance also called daggering after the tune and it has been banned.
Its mostly African style actually, but it looks too sexy when done close to the opposite sex! Chuh
