Now I'm not saying that my arse is a graveyard of ambition, no matter how true that may or may not be ........

In my opinion, people are generally down on Swansea and can be generally dismissive of it in favour of the bright lights of Cardiff and Newport.

Don't get me wrong, Cardiff and Newport are great, and Swansea has it's faults, but as they say, if you're not part of the solution, maybe you're part of the problem.

Luckily, from time to time peolpe get bored of the negativity and just plodding along with the naysayers and whateverers, get of the pot, grab the bull by the horns, start running stuff up flag poles, give things boots up bottoms and generally get going.

Gawd bless you one and all.

Without even having read the blog yet, I must say the whole negativity that Swansea folk have about the place is so daft. I'm 31 and so many people I've known have dissed Swansea, desperate to get away....you know all the things people say, "it's a shithole", "nothing here" "graveyard of..." etc

I'm not being overly optimistic but I just think........hang on- what!???? It's a bloody great place to live - I love it!!!!! Not saying there's anything wrong with broadening your horizons - live wherever the fuck you want, but it's simply not that bad a place to live.

I'm gonna quote a few obvious bonuses (as cliche as the negative bunch lol) but my god do i love the gower, i love going out on my bike, riding along the prom when the tide is in - when the bay is like a lake. I love going down the beach when the weather is absolutely stinking - rainy, windy - it's exhilarating (spell?!)

People moan about the place as if we're living in a third world country.

right, i've had my rant, and could go on, but won't. it'll just get boring.

*but also we've got the best footy team in wales anyway, so that's enough for me alone!

Swansea's never had it so good.
More promoters than ever, more music venues than ever, more gigs than ever before.
We now have more genre's catered for than before.
Good news on the Swansea Collective and all that it stands for,but there's more to the swansea music scene than that, and the sooner people appreciate this the better. There's a bigger world out there for people to discover & enjoy musically & culturally, and that's what makes a city, and what it has to offer people.
To be negative about the Swansea scene at the momment is a real kick in the teeth to the people who are trying to drag it up by it's boot laces and make something happen for the people of the city.
After all we are a city, and not a town with a small mind mentality.

Fair comment Rich. There's a huge amount of stuff going on in Swansea at the moment. Regular punk (and associated genres for like minded folks) gigs promoted by the likes of yourself, Off the Bone, Swansea Collective, El UFO and others. Never mind all the other stuff that I don't pay any attention to.

I guess one question is, is there a big enough gig going public out there? And I don't just mean Swansea - there've been a few gigs I've travelled for this year that I thought would be rammed, but really weren't. Maybe I'm giving my musical taste too much credit, I don't know.

All I'm saying is, there are people like the Swansea Collective, you, Chris and others who are getting stuff done for the love of it, ratehr than for cash, and it would be good if people supported it where they can.
