I am

A million little deaths

Before I understand

The consequence

A million little deaths

Accompany me

On my journey

At the end it begins again

A million little deaths

Keep me company

So I don't feel lonely

A million little deaths

Comfort me

When I'm lost and

Remind me of my purpose

A million little deaths

And some big ones too

Help me understand

That I am

Would you care to elaborate on the subject in this poem? I am perplexed. I want to say that there are sexual ennuendos, but am unsure if that's really where it's going. I have read this this piece several times and I'm at a loss. And poetic meaning is something I enjoy very much. Thanks!

At the intersection of your two blogs:

imagine the million songs and other voices that criss-cross in our bodies at any given moment: every radio station, TV signal, cell phone call, and other satellite communication; CB, police and emergency channels; all these things pass through us on their way to their intended receivers.  So at any given moment, Stairway to Heaven could be intersecting with a conversation between a paramedic and an ER doc and a rerun of M.A.S.H., all in your liver, and that's just a fraction of it.  And, yes, one voice makes a difference, when it is intercepted by the receiver tuned to the right channel at the right moment to hear that message in a way it's never been heard before.

We send our voices out into the sea of the human condition, and all contribute to the hum of humanity . . . I wonder if Horton was modeled after Ganesh (personification of the primal sound)?
