"An exercise in sonic courage which would kick the weedsome butts of Embrace and the like, if they had any butts to kick in the first place."
- NME

"They wore their waftalot summertime pop lark well, and now they've had enough of it: welcome to the winter wardrobe - one that's 'all the rage' this season with anyone who's anyone in the crash'n'burn clinic of the crooked soul."
- NME

"Punk's fuck-you energy and pop's infectious fuck-me melody sifts through every note on this album."
- MELODY MAKER

"Nu-Clear sounds takes Ash right out of the junior-grunger league, and points them towards the stage marked 'Classic Rock And Roll'. They may make better, more consistent records in the future, but this may prove to be their most important creation."
- ACROSS THE LINE

"This is an album that will blow your socks off one minute and tenderly ease them back on the next, an album that is as diverse as it is rewarding. Ash may have grown older and wiser, but the twinkle in their eyes is omnipresent."
- BBC

"Ash bravely made an album that demands to be heard at maximum volume, and it's a glorious thing to behold."
- ALLMUSIC

Waited outside woolies to buy this on its day of release and still listen to it now. Not just the best record Ash have made, probably the best record anybody's made. Fuckin' amazing from start to finish.
