So, there is something really abstract about thousands and thousands of people being into somthing that I did years and years ago. Although we all move on in life I would like to thank you all for being my friends and for being into the music and the ideas, means alot.

Anyway, I just wanted to do some blatant self promotion hoping that someone might be interested in what I am doing right now.

Since Refused broke up I've been busy spreading politics and loud rock music with the (international) Noise Conspiracy.

www.myspace.com/internationalnoiseconspiracy

www.internationalnoise.com

But the real reason that I am writing you right now is that on the 16th of October I am releasing a record with my other band The Lost Patrol Band. The record is called Automatic and is being released on Burning Heart Records (no Us Label or release date yet). Please check out new songs and a brand new video on:

www.myspace.com/lostpatrolband

The vinylversion will be released on My own little Punklabel that I started about two years ago so if you want to check out some great retro punk please check out:

www.myspace.com/nyvagrecords

www.nyvag.com

I am also doing a podcast things on the Ny Våg records site where I talk shit and play old and new punk / powerpop and Hardcore music, so if you want to know what I am into please give it a listen.

There's rumours about me and David doing something together next, yeah... I will keep you posted on that. Something might happen.

Once again Thanks for being my friends and I hope that you have the time, desire or energy to check out what I am doing right now. Would be really nice.

Talk to you soon.

Arm yourself to Live, now more than ever.

Love

Dennis

The shape of punk to come changed my life, I cant imagine why something so real would die out. You should consider making that art real again.

OK, (I)NC are good, if you're into minor pentatonics, and they were alot better before they lost the girl (sarah) and grew their hair.

Lost Patrol could be good with more depth in the lyrics and if dennis stayed in key.

But the fact that dennis might get back together with, who i consider, the backbone of refused David Sandstrom, for that i am truely excited.

Sandstrom is a brilliant musician, one of the most rhythmicly creative percussionist i have ever heard. he is a pretty good vocalist as well. case in point, aside from the last three refused albums (songs, shape and new noise theology) check out his solo work and his work with text, who were a bit avant garde for my taste, non-the-less the concept of the album was pretty cool, along with a few key jams. "Om Der"...something something...too swedish for my lexicon, but in english it loosely translates to the grandpa album. Check out that album, it was the best post refused album i have heard yet. Its all in Swedish, but the tone of the album is incredible. vintage, minimalistic at times, but a truely engaging and cerebral album.

David has since tried to make pop music, and i can't enjoy it. its typical and boring and not to his potential, he is trying to be a rockstar, and is making vocals his main duty.

Long story short i think a collaberation of the two s exactly what they both need to start making good music again, they obviously had some good chemistry together, if they could get kristofer back it could only get better.

ps anyone else disapointed in the anticlimactic release of the DVD? they came off a bit self righteous and whinny. i have done a lot of tours and horrible shit happens, you trudge on. dont blame capitalism...if you were expecting to play earth shattering shows, why didnt you promote, maybe book a better venue, if you got stuck with basement shows, its your own fault. however good cinematography and cool live performances, especially tannhuaer/derive
where david is beating the shit out of his set: cathartic to say the least

hey, you zach person, shut the fuck up. i know you've probably never been more about ideals than music, and that's ok, but when you open your mouth people can see the hole in you fucking brain...just thought you'd like to know. the refused dvd is raw as a motherfucker, and yeah, it could'a been overproduced, and sounded just like the shape of punk to come, and if that's how you feel just stick in the album and listen to it. self righteous and whinny? man, they changed fucking music and got no recognition for it. glad you're on tour, but i don't know who the fuck you are, or how many lives you've changed, but you're slamming on a band, and a man more specifically in dennis, who has changed countless lives...
to quote the great zach de la rocha:
"you tell me i make no difference; but @ least i'm fucking trying....WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU DONE?"

Hey Dennis my name is Andy Putra i live in the U.S. and your music along with other artists i listen to have inspired me to start a new style of music that i've never heard before. me and my friends are starting an indie band and hopefully are trying to spark a change in the music scene here. i'm so tired of hearing cover bands and "scene" bands that sound the same and have no passion or action in their music. like you i hope to spark an epidemic of "new noise" and hopefully start something brilliant. i will do all i can to make this happen and change the direction that music is going in. -Andy

i cannot express enough what you've done to open my eyes and point me in the right direction...not as a mindless sheep, but as a curious person who was so fucking confused about why every day was worse than the last, and everything just seemed more and more pointless. your lyrics, the people you quoted, the shit you inspired me to research, showing that it wasn't me, that it was the world that was all fucked up, but that consistantly bombarding people w/information we could start waking people up and taking them outside their boxes. thank you for my life, my sanity, my love, my direction, my motivation, and my devotion...not saying you are the entire reason for any or all of those things, but that you helped increase every one of them, and continue to do so on a daily basis...whether i've listened to you that day or not you are always in my head screaming "WE'LL GET ORGANIZED" and sometimes it's the reason i do.
i hope that you're (any member of the refused, but dennis in particular) actually reading this. i don't think that's actually even possible...i just wish i could express to you how much your music has meant to me. i don't wanna get to the point of over doing , but this is what you're trying to do, right? start a fucking fire?
i know you said you'd never play together again, but goddammit, it's not my fault i didn't know about you guys when you were together, and the refused were some of the last of the dying breed of true artists and i just wish you would keep adding fuel to the fire...and i know that you are w/you (I)NC and please don't think i don't listen any more, i've just never gotten so much energy out of any album as i have "the shape of punk to come" and that couldn't be truer.

If there's any comment from a fan you read and take into consideration, I hope it's this one.

Dennis Lyxzen, you saved my life. Literally.

Like many 21st century teenagers, I went through a small state of depression when I was in high school. I had actually planned out when and how I was going to end my own life. (Looking back, I don't know what the fuck I was thinking.)
It was 2 days before what I wanted to be the last day of my life. I was flipping through some of my CD's, trying to plan out what song I wanted to be the last song I ever heard. It was then I heard your voice say "Rather be forgotten, than remembered for giving in," and from there something clicked. It was like I pictured you saying that to my face and shaking me, telling me to snap out of it. I still swear I literally felt a weight lift off my shoulders.

No other words have ever reached me in a way that yours did. After a month or so of acting like I was someone else, like I was too good for this world, you woke me up.

Needless to say that quotation sticks with me everywhere I go, and I cannot thank you enough for everything you've done for me, for others like me, and for music in general.

Thank you,

-Trevor

What I can say:
Refused changed my entire life and perspective on things you guys were and always will be the greatest band of all time!!No matter who tries to tell me wrong!"The Shape of Punk to Come" is almost always playing on my Itunes and that says a lot when music is a major thing in my life, I would like to thank you, Dennis, for all of the great and life changing songs you wrote. You've changed a lot of peoples lives including mine.YOU ARE MY HERO DENNIS!!!!
REFUSED ARE NOT FUCKING DEAD, anybody on here can agree with me on that. You guys may have given up but your music lives on to inspire everyone
What I can't say:
I wish I could say I've seen you guys live but since I'm only 15, you guys were playing while I was a kid and listened to all the pop music crap but I can thank my older sister for introducing me to the beauty of Refused=).I would like to be in a band that could change lives, just like yours. It might or might not happen but I'll always remember who Refused are.
Hope your project with David turns out to be awesome!

I'm sorry Dennis the band you are now in disappoints me. There is a quote on this myspace page of you talking about Shape of Punk to Come:

We made this album wanting to challenge peoples preconceptions of what a Punk band could be and what it could play, because Punk is the most conservative musical form there is. Even in Hardcore, there are so many rules about what is and what is not acceptable, and that completely negates the whole spirit of the original idea.
- Dennis Lyxzén / Refused.

You succeeded in that album, and I get sad when I realize what that album has done to be in the long run when it comes to music in general. My expectations are too high and it is your fault. Shame on you for depriving the world of the talents of Refused.

On the other hand, possibly the expected short ending after arguably the best punk album ever is for the best. I wish I could have seen you guys live though.
