I remember when I was able to pretend I was a soldier in my old backyard I was onlyh 9 or 10 but I was climbing over fences Just in case I had to join the war As the enemies got closer I started moving slower But then I saw them heading toward the park With a treebranch on my back I was ready to attack 'em Just as long as I was home by dark
I know I'm not as small as I once was But I still can play in the rain with my broken toy airplanes
I remember back when the water always attacked My many sandcastles along the shore Each and every time I see them getting swallowed by the sea I'd grab my goggles and we'd go to war With my shovel and my pail I lived the neverending tale Of how I made the ocean dance and roar While I was battling my foe I thought that it was time to go But we didn't have to leave til 4
Now that I'm older I'm not having that much fun I'm not a soldier and my curfew is far past one I can stay out past dark and stay afloat at sea I may be taller but that doesn't change a thing
I know im not as small as I once was But I still can play in the rain with my broken toy airplanes
