Current mood:  nostalgic
So it's a rainy night in Bensonhurst/Cambodia and I was looking through
my CDs cause I didn't have Feed Me Grapes on mp3 to upload to the page.
Had to break the shrink wrap and open a fresh copy, don't know where the opened CD went. Anyway...this track brought back many memories of what seems like decades ago, although it's only been about 7 years since I wrote and recorded it. While I listened, I remembered recording at the old TME spot on Grand Concourse. We had the whole crew up in there. Blockhead had to lug his ASR all the way from the Village to play out the beat onto FredOnes' computer. Originally I wanted the "sorry" in the hook as a cut, but one of the people in the studio was a world-reknowned Japanese beatboxer Afra. We were buggin out and he jumped on the mic and did a one-take vocal scratch for the record. That shit just came together perfectly.
I think I recorded Applause that day also, shoutin out Aes, cause he agreed to jump on the hook. Homie never came through but I kept the ad libs anyway. He's a rich bastard.
Listening to my old shit reminds me just how much of an angry and bitter record I was set out to make. Comparing it to fighting styles, I was a headhunter, who came in to spill blood. There was no other beauty for me other than post-carnal remorse.
Like I said, this in no way feels like time flew. The amount of knowledge and personal growth I've experienced has given me infinite new beginnings for every dead end that I thought I was facing. Well, I am glad I'm older and wiser and greatful for each one of my incredible fans.I've only performed the track a few times live, but it's one of my favorites and I would like to resurrect it. Wish me luck on finding the instrumental!
Thank you for riding thru this memory trip with me, world,
here is to a bazillion trillion new memories, tours, love, bottles, ancient plants,
mics, waves and stars. Cause stars aint nerd rap.

Feed Me Grapes!
Your Czar,
L o D E C K
