I just Had a wonderful 17 days on the road. Silver (my 95 Honda Accord) held up well. I had weird vision of being forty five years old and still in love with this car and being on some Honda commercial with a big smile and the number Six Hundred Thousand miles blinking at the bottom of the TV.
I know though that someday I'm going to have to let go of Silver and move on to some new age car that speaks to me while I drive and tells me how to get there and beeps loudly when I made a right instead of a left….I love this little car though and I have no aspirations of letting her go right now.
I had some really wonderful shows and met some fantastic people.
I had a CD release show in
Yucca Valley CA and it was just beautiful.
I felt like I returned home for Christmas.
I toured this time with another songwriter, Raina Rose, she's a wonderful little lady with a big booming voice and a really great song about a flashlight that won't leave your head.
She would constantly tell me that I'm not funny while hitting me and laughing nonstop.
I'm still not sure what to think of people that are laughing uncontrollable and yelling "your not funny" while tears form in their eyes.
I've been on this kick Co/writing songs with different People I meet. Gregory Isakov, john Elliott and I wrote a song this summer together which is on my new CD and Gregory is recording his version some time soon too. I believe his people are in contact with Emmlylou Harris' people trying to get her to sing on it….which would be way cool. Gregory is also very gifted songwriter. You should spend the day listening to him. I spent an evening with Victoria Williams working on a song about five months ago and she just told me that it's been recorded and Jolie Holland sings back up on it…wonderful. Victoria is beautiful little lady with a bunch of well crafted songs and also makes the best apple pie any where in the planet. I love getting together with people and working on songs. I'm not a big studio guy, but I really love cut and pasting songs together. I've written about 5 songs with the Ron Scott from the Insect label….and it's always been a lot of fun.
I'm writing this blog on my laptop at Café Medici in South Austin and I'm about ready to leave for a show 4 hours away in Denton TX at Banter. The shows Sat but I feel like being in Denton and hanging out a little bit before I have to play. I don't have much to complain about. I'm a got a new song brewing right now and I hope to have it finished soon.
Cheers
Happy days
Oh yeah….John Elliott just came out with a new album that is amazing
