51 Lions Update

Well, a lot has happened here at 51 Lions since the open house. (Thanks again to all the folks who came by!) Let's start off with some of the sessions we've had going on.

Most recently, the gentlemen of One Eyed Stanley (http://www.myspace.com/oneeyedstanley) are working on an 11 track release that rings of a funk -driven Ben Folds Five. They have been working diligently with Marc Flynn, the house engineer, and have put together some great sounds. The incorporation of an upright piano and organ have added a nice touch. They are continuing to work on the final product; and it promises to be an excellent piece of work.

Chris & Aurore (www.myspace.com/chrisandaurore or www.sonicbids.com/chrisandaurore), one of Boston's newest (and sexiest) folk/country acts, recorded their newest release, "Fever Cureless Cold" with engineer Mike Vera (also the guitarist of local rock sensation Lock and Key). A stunning and haunting release, this album showcases their musicianship and talent.

WBCN Rock 'n' Roll Rumble semifinalists Eyes Like Knives (http://myspace.com/eyeslikeknives or www.eyeslikeknives.com) also spent some time in the studio recording 5 tracks with engineer and guitar player Scott Toomey.

Age Rings (www.myspace.com/agerings) recorded the song "Millions of Americans," as featured on the Boston Phoenix's "On the Download," to start off their sessions for an upcoming release. Keep your eyes out for "Look, the Dusk is Growing," also recorded her at 51 Lions, to be self-released later this year.

We have also seen recent sessions with Jimbo's Army, hardcore act Colin of Arabia, and the filthy yet fabulous Foam 'n' Mesh. The near future brings sessions with Boston's famed Lock & Key. (www.myspace.com/lockandkey or www.lockandkeyrock.com) We are excited to have them in the house and to be working with Mike Vera once again. Stay tuned for more updates on what's happening with these acts and others soon to come!

In other news, we have been busy with even more updates to the studio. We are in the process of refinishing all the floors and bringing in some new equipment. Look for your reflection in the pine soon... along with some delightful additions to the control room.

Comning soon: Age Rings live from 51 lions on WBCN in the end of September and our buddies Waltham recording in October. NEW PICS SOON!
