The National Pro-Life Cupcake day was a major success.  I received calls and e-mails from around the globe all from people baking cupcakes and handing them out in the name of life.  At the same time I spent my day talking to people at our local supermarket about children and choices.  We raised some money for our local pregnancy center, encouraged people to vote pro-life, and listened to people's testimonies about how abortion has affected them.  We had a little opposition.  Some folks just don't think all children deserve birthdays however they were just as eager to have some cake and dialogue with us.

I personally learned a lot from working on this project.  I not only learned that a thousand cupcakes is a lot, but also that this method of activism is very effective in creating meaningful dialogue.  My favorite part was talking to children about the idea that not every child is allowed to be born.  I was surprised at how well they understood abortion when put in those terms.  Their simple shock that some children weren't allowed to have birthdays spoke volumes to me about why I do what I do.  Children love birthdays and by listening to them I realized just how much God does love children and how much he wants to celebrate their birthdays with them.  Cupcakes for life is not only a celebration of life but also a reminder that not every child is allowed to be born.  I was amazed at how much God wanted to show me through this little ministry that he gave me the vision for.

Well, school was out here for Fall break, so we are going to rent a booth at the mall and actually do this on a Saturday in November when people are doing their Christmas shopping. I don't have a job, so this will be my best opportunity to reach people. I mean, who will turn down a free cupcake? We'll have pro-life brochures, pencils, and we'll have the fetal models out to show what the baby looks like in the womb. A big wake up call to anyone pro-choice.

A friend of mine took cupcakes to her job and a couple of people refused them when she explained the cause.

I expect some of the same reactions when we take the ministry to the mall, but along with the brochures and materials, maybe we can help change some hearts to the realization that abortion is wrong.

God bless you all! -Amy in middle TN

i baked a ton of cupcakes and handed them out at school.

everyone kept asking the same question: "who's birthday?"
i explained what i was doing and a lot of them really thought what i was doing was great.

but there were others who didnt quite like it as much.

those who wanted a cupcake for the wrong reason.

to enjoy the free gift.

i tried to put my message out there and i think i changed a lot of peoples views.

but maybe not as many as id hoped.

plus the school aministrators told me to never do this again since its a policy to not discus or have an activity of any kind related to abortion.

i thought that was ridiculous.

but whatever.

at least i got to educate people about what abortion really is all about.

im glad the majority of cupcake recipients agreed w/ me.

Oh my goodness, what an incredible idea, and project you guys put together. I didn't know about it, but I'm not able to check the Living Offensively site everyday. That is so cool! I hope it was a huge success, and that people all of our Nation continue celebrating the lives of the unborn babies.
They should be celebrated!

Happy Birthday to them all!

Shalom,

I just made cupcakes for my daughters who are 3. If we can make it a tradition they will know why we have cupcakes on this day and be able to do it themselves when they get a bit older. I think next year we may make some to pass out to family members. I want them to grow with the day, learning more and challenging ourselves more every year. Eventually I want it to be our October holiday and throw Halloween out the window. After all, cupcakes for life, seems to be a Very original Christian holiday while Halloween is a very pagen holiday.

CUPCAKES?!?!? CUPCAKES?!?!? Isn't there something more meaningful and WORTH DOING rathar than just handing out SILLY little cupcakes? When was the last time someone in your organization took the time out to send some care packages to OUR TROOPS over seas. Or perhaps giving a homeless person a buck or two for a cup of coffee? Or even perhaps helping somebody pay bail or a fine for some stupid misunderstanding.
Or speaking to younger ones about SAFE SEX rather than just go and dig right into abortion? There are Bigger and Better thing to Improve rather than just exploit you little OPINION!

Just because you believe something else is bigger doesn't make it better. Everyone succeeds at something different. I sure wouldn't tell a nurse who does a great job at her job that it's "better" to be a doctor, or a doctor it's "better" to be surgeon, or for that matter a drummer it's "better" to be a singer. However, I can't help but notice that everyone you're advocating for is already alive. Where do you think they would have been if someone hadn't talked about abortion.

Live Offensively does a lot of great things. Just because you don't agree with all of them, that doesn't diminish what they are doing or the great impact of it. They aren't exploiting anything or anyone by doing this, and all you have done was exploit their page to rant because you're having a bad day. Oh, and exploit your caps lock key.

Hope your day gets better

I Always have a great day! I do! I GET LAID EVERY MORNING! I do a good deed or two. EVERY DAY. Help out the elderly...Without giving them stoopid cupcakes...I DECIDE What kind of day I Have. PS the Human body is the Temple of the Lord...AND I TAKE CARE OF MINE (AND THE SOUL WITHIN IT) RELIGIOUSLY.

If you feel so strongly about taking care of the body, then you should definately be advocating the education of women about the dangers of abortion. All the moral aspects of the procedure aside, this is an operation that has been PROVEN to cause an increase in breast cancer risks (now we can all rally around an end to breast cancer, right), increase suicide rates (certainly you wouldn't object to someone working for a suicide hotline), increase risk of substance abuse (just say no, anyone with half a brain knows that drug use is bad for your health), increase in depression, increase in etopic pregnancies, and an increase in sterility. Three international health organizations -- UNICEF, WHO, UNESCO -- have published warnings ..ion. These risks do not even include the number of women who suffer serious, life-altering complications, even death, as a result of the procedure itself. Abortion is FOUR times deadlier than childbirth! While abortion is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures in the United States, it is the least regulated, has less follow-up care, and is remarkably protected from the usual accountability for complications. Sadly, many women have none of this information about the dangers of abortion. Instead, they know only the front-page information that has become conventional U.S. wisdom. Indeed, only a minute number of abortion deaths are classified as such in official data -- which leaves women at the mercy of abortion lies instead of being well-informed about abortion realities. Educating women about and ending such a poorly regulated, unhealthy procedure sure seems like a good cause to me.

Now, morality back in the picture, scientifically the following three things CANNOT be disputed about an abortion procedure: 1. Genetically, the unborn child being aborted has it's own, distinct set of DNA from anyone else in the world (including its mother), a scientific marker used to determine the individuality of one person from another. Therefore, this unborn child is NOT part of the mother; 2 Genetically, this unborn child exhibits all the markers of a human being. It is not part tadpole or unidentifiable in its nature; 3 Scientifically, the unborn child fits into the category of a living being. These are some of the scientific requirements for being defined as living: Organization: Being composed of one or more cells, which are the basic units of life. Metabolism: Consumption of energy by converting chemicals and energy into cellular components (anabolism) and decomposing organic matter (catabolism). Living things require energy to maintain internal organization (homeostasis) and to produce the other phenomena associated with life. Growth: Maintenance of a higher rate of synthesis than catabolism. A growing organism increases in size in all of its parts, rather than simply accumulating matter.

Put those three scientific facts together and there is no disputing that abortion ends the life of a human being, distinctly & undeniably different from the mother carrying said life. And the whole argument about it not being able to live without the mother, so its life is worth less than ours doesn't hold water either. Newborns can't live without the help of their mothers. Five year olds can't live without the help of their mothers. Physically & mentaly disabled persons often rely .. from others to help them perform life sustaining processes (such as obtaining food, preparing it and eating it). There are many in the elderly community in need of help from others in order to survive. However, we have not sunk so low (yet) to allow these people to die because their lives are an inconvenience to our own.....that is called murder. I think it is a very good deed to advocate for the end of legalized murder.

And FYI, almost every elderly person I know LOVES cupcakes!!

RElationship??? oh so now you think you have a RELATIONSHIP with GOD? Are YOu Mental? Not Even Noah was sure of what he was doing when he saved his Menagerie on that arc of his. REligion is a practice of beliefs and ideas. Not a relationship with an invisible force that rarely responds. Who do you guys think you are, F&%$ing Yoda? If you do then you're pretty arrogant with your belief structure. Just as arrogant if not more so than those politicians and evangilists on tv that secretly cheat on their wives with hookers and or children in 3rd world countries. PS I'v Always seen this as a constant...Persons such as yourselves that tout your religion in other peoples faces...often (VERY OFTEN) have a REALLY big skeleton in their closet. LOL! Maybe you feel guilty about something. What have you done that was sooo bad that made you sweat all night and give up fornication as punishment for yourself for something you felt REALLY guilty about huh? LOL! YOu religious types are all the same...LOL! this too shall pass...Much like Billy Graham, And Tammy Faye...Like $&!t through a duck!

None of this should be taken in a manner that would make you think that we're angry or frustrated.

Yes, personal and intimate relationship with our Lord and Saviour, the Almighty, Alpha and Omega, Living King......Jesus Christ. Arrogant.........NO! Simply positive that my Bible is the ultimate and only truth in the universe. Yes...........you're right none of us are perfect, even what some considered to be the greatest disciples even feel to pride, fear, and other such weapons of the enemy. Paul himself recognized his weakness very clearly and he wrote most of the New Testament. No body is waving their "religion" anymore than you are waving what you believe or do not believe. People who believe in nothing simply are, they simply live their life like there is nothing to believe in......On the other hand all we are doing is living our life according to what we believe, thats all we are doing. If we disagreed with a blog you posted or a comment you made, and did exactly what you are doing now, you would say we were trying to force our religion on you right?........yes.....you would. But since you disagree with us its a totally different standard right? no its the exact same thing. realize the double standard, We dont claim to be perfect and no christian ever should. Our message is no matter what you've done, no matter who you are, Jesus took your sin to the cross with Him and He died so that you might go to heaven, all you have to do is call on his name.

"OUR" God? You know... maybe that stance on YOUR religion is what gets so many people to hate you...Perhaps this is EXACTLY the attitude that has US (AMERICAN) Hated all over the Green Planet. And What are you trying to say...That the BIBLE has all the Answers? Was there nothing before the Bible? Space? Nothingness? If you do You Are MAd! There was a Council Headed by CONSTANTINE. (A life long Pagan)That was Baptised on his death bed. To stop the Atrocities between the Pagans (Who worshipped nature, love, life AND SEX! He united Rome under one Flag. Christianity That was approximatly in 300 - 325 A.D. Not ONLY did he want to stop bloodshed.(Which I think is one of the commandments is it not? Thou shalt not murder.) He wanted to keep Rome from splitting into two. There is a very FAMOUS Ecumenical Gathering...The Council of NICAEA. It was at THIS gathering where the Bible came to life. (It did not arrive by facsimile from the heavens you know.) IT was during this period where the MANY SECTS of Christianity argued and decided the dates for Christmas...Easter...Which gospels were to be put in...administering of the sacraments. And WHo Jesus was. Yes... HE Died. He made a sacrifice...But it is our CHOICES that detirmine who we are...Not what religion to follow. And so you are proposing for an unprepared youth that may have made a BIG mistake to raise a Child...with no Money...No support from family and possibly put that kid into a wayworse situation than that unprepared youth was EVER in...
Why not educate the youth into practicing SAFE SEX so as to AVOID any definite abortion strictly from the pressure of that poor girls parents, boyfriend, school, and destroy any possible future in the first place. Lsten to me. PEOPLE HAVE SEX. It's been goin on for quite a long time... We are only human and the desire for flesh male or female supercedes ANY religious following. Which is what the pagans practiced. now is love and sex for pleasure so bad? No! I don't thinks so...But Destroying Millions of people over a belief? that's just plain EVIL.

OUR God is Exactly right. He's my God because i choose to let Him rule in my life, and anyone else can recieve grace just like i have. Once again i have no religion, i have a relationship. The reason our country is going into such a big mess, is because we as a nation have turned our back on God. And yes the Bible has all the answers, that is exactly what im saying. Because if i call my self a Christian that is my only truth to follow. In the begining there was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God. There was God and he spoke everything into existance. Constantine was obsessed with uniting the roman empire
that is the only reason he did what he did. He also referred to himself as Vicarious Christi, which in Greek essentially means Anti-Christ. You cant pick and choose commandments thats why they're commandments. Who cares how the Bible was assembled together, the point is that the scriptures came to life the moment that the Holy Spirit inspired the authors to write Word of God. Our choices do determine who we are, but if you are a Christian you are supposed to turn those choices over to God's Will and put what He wants over all things. Jesus didnt just give His life, He then spent 3 days going through hell to take back the keys of death and sin from the devil. As far as the unprepared youth......If you still had prayer and God in schools instead of shutting him out and turning your back, it wouldnt have happened because they would have been taught abstinence. And so now you're telling me that my desires overide the very God that created me and commanded me to not commit adultery. You can bring up the wars that people have fought over beliefs but you still cant blame God for the mistakes of man.

Bullshit! EVERYBODY IS GOING"PLEASE GOD GET ME OUT OF THIS MESS" RIGHT NOW! The Reason for this country's deplorable condition is the government's ridiculous foreign policies and its inability to see the point of view of the working man/woman and or the homeless man/woman.

The BIBLE DOES NOT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS! If it did then why do the Arabs and Muslims hate us so…Why are the Buddhists being Constantine was a pragmatist. He was Rome's Holy man. His followers had a way of life that was simple and HOLY TO THEM...And you want a whole country of people to change (completely) their way of life just because the bible or you said so? You expected that a change of beliefs would happen overnight? HE WANTED THE KILLING AND BLOODSHED TO STOP! Get it? That kind of change should have been done slowly, with patience, tolerance, love, and a GRADUAL EXCHANGE of IDEAS and beliefs. If Christ (A JEW) could influence people to practice peace, love, one god…Fine. Why couldn’t EVERY faction and sect of Christianity practice their beliefs WITHOUT immediately telling people to do it this way or that? Why could’nt there have been a transition without all the wars and bloodshed? The Bible Can’t Answer that can it? But Common Sense can…Constantine COULD NOT have changed his beliefs or his people’s ideas and beliefs over night. HE KNEW that there would be problems if this new wave (At the time) was to be introduced too quickly to his people. He understood that with any great power came a great responsibility. AND CHRISTIANITY was a Great power. As was Paganism at the time. He had hoped that not only would this New Religion could either fade away slowly or come in slowly… either way slowly. He also knew as a man in power that to keep the sheep in line with either Paganism or Christianity there had to be a balance. And as far as Vicarious Christi. Which does mean Anti Christ…that meaning (AT THAT TIME) is FAAAAAR from the devil’son… IT just meant that politically speaking, he had his own ideas and he had to stick to his ideals at least for the moment until his death. HE wasn’t against Christ the Man or God…He HAD to not let his people’s beliefs and Ideas be Crushed and Changed so Quickly so as not to lose his seat and possibly give control to another ruler…ONE that may have been even more power hungry or even unable to lead fairly. And back to Prayer in School…NO WAY! No WAY can a prayer stop a 14 year old boy from looking at a pretty girl (or boy depending on how they swing) and not getting a hard on. Once anybody hits puberty…the driving force for almost everything a teen does is to share some skin with somebody. It’s Unstoppable. It’s primal, It’s NATURAL. It’s the Reason my Dad nailed my Mom out of love and lust over 35 yrs ago (And still does at 68 years old LOL!) And sure maybe prayer helped a little. He prayed when he first met her to get her to his place to have a beer or ten and live a little.

Just because we not always understand something that God wants us to do doesn't mean that we don't have a relationship with Him. I am sorry that your God is invisible to you and that he rarely responds. I don't believe anyone here threw their religion in your face. If I'm not mistaken you came to their myspace page.

We baked cupcakes with our church youth and decorated them. We spent 2 Wednesdays talking about abortion, how to defend pro-life, and answering questions. Then the kids took the cupcakes to school on Thursday and handed them out.
We will find out how it went the Wednesday but I know of two of the kids that said they even changed some other kids minds about abortion! I'm so proud of our youth!!!

Uhhh. They would'nt even have to think about abortion if they practiced SAFE SEX! Why not give them an education on what happens during intercourse rather than go right into the negative part of an adolescent's mistake.

On October 9th we celebrated National Pro-Life Cupcake day! Jaynee and I spent the last month getting ready for the event to be held at our campus.
It was a difficult process and many times we didn’t think it was going to work, but God came through and the College Republican group sponsored the event! Because of this, we got a lot of help from those in the organization and had a ton of fun baking cupcakes and getting ready!
We baked about 125 cupcakes the night before and set up around noon on Thursday to hit the crowds during lunch. Many people stopped by and heard why we were handing out the cupcakes, but not many actually stayed to talk with us about abortion. This didn’t surprise us too much because we do go to a pretty liberal college. However, there were a couple people who dialogued with us about the issue. One girl shared that she was pro-life but with certain exceptions. We explained to her our views and why we believe there are no exceptions no matter what the case. She heard us out and started to slowly agree with us on our views.
We definitely think we changed what she believes!
Overall, we had more positive responses than negative ones, but there were a few. We even had a pro-choice group just up the stairs talking with people on how they should keep abortion “safe, legal, and rare.
” God really worked at the university on Thursday and He definitely exceeded our expectations! Thanks to all those who participated in this day and helped get the truth out about abortion!

Fine. All well and good! Raise some awareness...Talk about it with others without making a spectacle of yourselves...Stupid Cupcakes! You're not gonna change somebody'smind with a cupcake...all your doing is promoting unhealthy eating habits and tooth decay..LOL! Sorry...I see the obvious first. Here's where i see the problem...Most People do what the need before they do what they want. I'm Pro life in a way that a person has to remember to live to the fullest. Live everyday like it's your last. Educate yourself and get unbiased advise regarding whatever big decisions need to be made. Abortion may not be for you...so then don't do it. But try not to be so against it that you sicken others such as my self that are for abortion. I'm a Christian. A Free Thinker. (Maybe I think too much) and I tend to leave most people alone... Just as I want to be left alone...Just like most people want to be left alone. Abortion SHOULD NOT BE USED AS BIRTH CONTROL. However in certain instances it is unavoidable...IT is a necessary thing.

Just like sex, porn, lust, gluttony, excess, people have the freedom to choose.
