The Velveteria is a visual onslaught, a chaotic collision of colors, characters, images coming from every direction, flooding the senses. I like to see that jaw dropping look of awe on people's faces when they experience the Velveteria. We've combed flea markets and stayed in flop houses from San Ysidro to Seattle looking for these fabulous pieces, and you'll see how much it was worth it when you come visit us.
Velvet painting is the Rodney Dangerfield of art. It's the stuff nobody wanted - but that's wrong! Velvet painting is technically difficult and requires different skills than ordinary painting. Our pieces range from fine art to the "Oh my God, what were they thinking?" variety. With over 170 paintings on display, there is something for everyone here. Velveteria takes one through the South Sea islands to a lair of beautiful ladies to the Wall of Fame where the classics of velvet are found: dogs playing poker, Elvis, banditos, and clowns. Plus, we have rotating shows, like the story of Jesus and Mary on velvet for Easter. Velvet painting captures pathos and whimsy in a frame. Every vibrantly colorful painting has value.
Velveteria is unique, rare, and precious - a wonderment. Hell, it's the first wonder of the new millennium.
