well, it's been a fucking outstanding week so far. all our shows have been, at worst, mediocre, and at best, amazing. we played the abbey lounge on wednesday, which went really well. all the bands were great, save for the first band from nebraska who were fucking awesome, but still left during our set and didn't say goodbye. we played with the mercy james gang, the funeral barkers, and eagle seagull. all of these bands were fucking outstanding. and last night we played the century lounge with thebrotherkite, and 3 other bands we weren't really into, but were tight and righteously talented regardless. i was kind of a dick, because we were supposed to open the show at ten, but i got a phone call at like, 6 pm saying we were the FIFTH band on this bill (we were told there were THREE bands), and that we would have had to go on at 9pm. normally this would be fine, save for the fact that we had to drive to providence, which is 40 min. away from us, AND we had already told people to be there for 10 if they wanted to see us. this became kind of a big deal for about 5 minutes, but was quickly resolved, and we got to go on second. i'm extremely happy about this, because our friends who DID drive 40 minutes out of their way to see us arrived right after the first band, which could have been us, and they would have been sad. and we don't like our fans to be sad ever. so with everything right in the world, we took the stage to find the best sound system on the planet. it was so good, in fact, that for the first time in our careers, we actually muttered the words, 'can you please turn the monitors down?' DOWN!!! i couldn't believe it. the monitors (and the soundguy, Christian) were SO good that me and jeff could actually hear the level of suck in our voices from being sick for the past 2 weeks. we were also cursed with technical problems our whole set. during bones, jeff's midi keyboard fell off its stand, which of course is located conveniently directly above his piano, which resulted in a very entertaining sound. imagine dropping a long heavy object directly onto a piano and you get the gist of it. after the NEXT song, mike's kick pedal exploded, but that was fixed in a few minutes, and off we went. a few minutes after that, eric's straplock on his bass fell off! fuck! what the hell was going on? i'm convinced there are gremlins in our space, slowly eating our equipment while we're away. anyway, the set went pretty well, and we were well-received. we ended the set with Boston, and people seemed to dig our momentary lapse of Journey. BUT, what i really want to touch on here is the brother kite's set. holy god in heaven, this was possibly the best set we've ever seen from them. and we've seen a LOT of TBK shows. they are a SxSW bound, well-oiled rock and roll machine right now, and you need to see them NOW. these motor-boatin sons of bitches put on the best show last night, and they fucking covered paul mccartney's JET!! fucking bloody hell it was awesome. very rarely do i completely blow out my voice screaming for a local band. but i did, and even if i can't sing at all tonight, it was well worth it.

now SPEAKING OF TONIGHT!!!
tonight we play the new wave cafe in new beige with TBK AGAIN! and we also get to witness the amazing display of entertainment that is the wack ass egyptians! this may be the best RSC show in a long time. i hope you all get to come out and see it. it starts at 10 pm sharp, and please please please come. there's gonna be an afterparty at mike's after, and we're all gonna get shitty and celebrate TBK's trip to Texas to perform at SxSW!! so come be a part of it with us.

oh, i just posted a weird little version of 'Blame It On The Tetons' from modest mouse. check it out. on days where i can't really sing, i like to record my voice for some reason. i'll be blogging more, so stay tuned.

I think this is probably your best blog ever. Seriously. I was telling someone recently how it's funny when you know someone really well, and through their text, you can hear how they would say everything they've typed. You're one of the few people I can do that with, so naturally, I couldn't help giggling while I read.

That's some major SUCK about last night's technical issues. I was there at the Abbey for the malfunctioning pedal and Mike's kick drum incident, but what the fuck? The Alesis (sp?) falling onto the piano? Shit, man. With such a great sound system, it figures shit had to go wrong to make up for it.

I'll definitely be at the show tonight (how I'm getting there is still undetermined - fellow readers, who's going and who's picking me up? :-D Kidding), because it's like... RSC and TBK and fuckign Wack Ass Egyptians. Man, I saw them play at the Middle East Upstairs a few years ago with The Hidden and Presley and it was more like a party than a show.

Anyway, now that I've written a reply about as long as your blog, I'm off to (hopefully) clean and do laundry. The burning question I now have in my mind is: what the fuck am I gonna wear tonight? I'll try not to 'blow your indie cred.' (Lie.)

<3 T.
