STEIM, a centre for research & development of instruments & tools for performers in the electronic performance arts based in Amsterdam, for those (few) that don't know, is in danger of losing its government funding. You can help by filling in the form supplied in their webpage. Below is my personal statement for your reference:

"I find the research carried out at STEIM to be of utmost importance towards a further understanding of human-machine interfacing and, thus, the process of composition of computer music, amongst others. Contemporary music can only truly advance in research centres of the type and character that STEIM is, and of which there clearly aren't enough around. If anything, STEIM's funding should be increased, so that more opportunities for research and experimentation can exist in the future. In a time when contemporary music is regarded as of an increasingly 'academic' nature, STEIM's research stands for the effort to bridge the communication gaps incurred by the introduction of the electronic medium."
