TEAM BRICK + COLORIR
UK Tour: November-December 2007
Produced by Qu Junktions / www.qujunktions.com
A life-affirming double header from Bristol and Brazil. Team Brick galvanises a huge range of influences from Tuvan throat singing, The Melvins, deep metal, bubblegum psych and the emotional landscapes of rock's outer reaches. Colorir are a duo who make their drums and guitar dance to some wild sounds and are developing a reputation as an incendiary live proposition at the forefront of Brazil's free music scene.

*Team Brick only
Team Brick is a Bristolian who is able to circumnavigate a diverse range of cultural/social scenes, sucking up all that moves him and reconstituting it into a solo multi-instrumental show of unique range and power. Hence he can appear and play at fey-indie nights, breakcore raves, world music affairs, experimental jam sessions, workshops and DIY gigs. We have only once seen him be blown away by a band he has played with or supported and that was Lighting Bolt – his immense shows (pulling instruments out of nowhere, flitting between OTT histrionics and whispers) have seriously raised the game for those he has shared a stage with - Fog, Julian Cope, Headfall, Circle and numerous doom/metal/indie/out there wannabes.
Team Brick has released a slew of Cdrs, tapes and 7"s, and plays in Crippled Black Phoenix but his first studio album 'proper' (Christ!!) is on Geoff Barrow of Portishead's Invada label.
"Team Brick cuts a gnomic dash as he shambles onstage at the Malcolm X Centre and positions himself behind a tabletop of FX units. With a vocal style that moves between animalistic grunts, highly accomplished but untutored operatic warbling and distorted caterwauling, the artist also know as Matt also blends a small electronic organ and a salvaged CD rack into his merry noise making. Team Brick's joyful noise offers a necessary corrective to the brattish negativity of superficially similar US artists, such as Providence's lamentable Prurient." Joseph Stannard (The Wire)

Colorir take bare bones instrumentation (guitar and half a drum kit) into frenzied, technicolour territory. Their stunning, open-ended flights into music beyond music seem to reference the manic energy of John Zorn, the weird-magic of a Alejandro Jodorowsky movie, the 5th world sounds of Keiji Haino and the dreamy harmonic power of a Ornette Coleman solo.
They have a history of guerilla street performances, contemporary dance score and collaborations with artists. With legions of CDrs under their belt they are prolific and defiantly underground. They are impossible to pin down and this is what makes them so exciting. This is noise and weirdness without the head down dreariness or melancholic slump of some stale practitioners.
