::: January 2008 NotesOk to start, I'm a dumbass. I double-booked myself on January 26th ... for both Broketronica and
Bill Frisell at Rutgers Camden. That show was incredible, but I'm sure you don't want to hear about that.
Broketronica was incredible too, even if it was shorter than usual. I think the intention was to start the show early and end early so that we wouldn't steal thunder from
Rizumu's all night party. I'm not exactly sure what time the music started, but my best estimate was that it ended around 3am (at least that's when I split inciting).
Here's a rundown of the artists and their performance order, roughly:
1)
Jason Carr vs Gitano (Live PA & turntables)
2)
Alka (Live PA)
3)
Friendship Foundation (Live PA)
4)
Pandemix (DJ set)
5)
City Rain (Live PA)
6)
Passable Plastic w/Jason Carr, Pandemix, Gitano (Analog synths & DJs)
Ok a few notes:
- The firewire to Keith's soundcard was knocked out of his laptop in the middle of the recording, so that hosed his computer for a while. Some audio was lost, particularly all of Gitano's DJ set and part of City Rain's set.
- Passable Plastic invited Jason Carr, Pandemix, and Gitano to perform with him in a live improvisation which featured analog synths and turntables. That was unexpected and interesting.
- City Rain's mother came out to support, and became Broketronica's oldest intentional attendee. Props to supportive parents! I'm not worried about my mom seeing this blog entry and getting jealous because she doesn't even know how to check her own e-mail.
- Sometime after 2am, we busted out a trippy green laser. You can see photos of it
here.

VLC, which is an excellent media player for OSX that can handle pretty much anything. But if you don't want to mess with that and you don't want to mess with iTunes, feel free to access the mp3s directly via the generic RSS feed.
