This is what the CEO of Carphone has done...... (where I am proud to work for!)

You can't help but have noticed the comment and debate during the past 24 hours over the behaviour of the Housemates in the Big Brother House. The displays of racism and bullying by some of the participants is against everything Carphone Warehouse stands for and directly contradicts my own, and the company's values. Consequently, I have concluded that we have to pull our sponsorship and remove our association with the program. We will be putting this statement out in a few minutes, but I wanted you to know first.

18th January 2007: The Carphone Warehouse Group ("Carphone Warehouse") today announces that it is suspending its sponsorship of Channel 4's  Celebrity Big Brother programme.
  
Charles Dunstone, CEO of The Carphone Warehouse said: 
  
"Our concern has rapidly mounted about the broadcast behaviour of individuals within the Big Brother house. We are totally against all forms of racism and bullying and indeed this behaviour is entirely at odds with the brand values of The Carphone Warehouse. As a result we feel that as long as this continues we are unable to associate our brand with the programme.
  
"We had already made it clear to Channel 4 that, were this to continue, we would have to consider our position. Nothing we saw last night gave us any comfort.  Accordingly we have instructed Channel 4 to remove our sponsorship name and branding with immediate effect."


I have no hesitation in taking this action and I share the concerns of those of you who have felt offended or victimised by the content of the program.

and Russell Brand, as well as last year's

Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle.

So is it any surprise that C4 and CBB

producers are so reticent about condemning

the racist bullying, led by Jade, on their

show? They have their own interests to protect.

 

I cant believe you blogged this before me!! Ive been so upset watching CBB that i dont think I can watch it anymore. Jade is just ignorant and dumb and thats how she became famous in the big brother house in the first place so really and truly we shouldnt be surprised at her behaviour. Like Jermaine has said (and this was my lyric in the first place, dyam tiefin jackson) you cant reason wit stupidity. As for Jo and Danielle hmmmm. Jade & the 2 dogs (or just 'the 3 dogs') have really let themselves down... Last week I thought Jade was gona get away with her blatant tactic of "If I bitch to her face then the public will be behind me", but thankfully she couldn't hold her bitchiness in maturely. The other 2 are just sad... following behind Jade like little giggly sidekick bitches.

I've seen the same 3-dog scenario before.. at skool and in various office jobs... all those times in my life when I've been bullied...

They are blatantly bullying Shilpa, but it's nothing to do with race - They would pick on her no matter what her colour, because she doesnt stoop to their levels, and I guess they are jealous that she's a beautiful classy lady. And yeh, she bates herself up for sure!!

So the same old play gets acted out, bitches vs the victim, and of course they then say nasty snidy things about the victim - in Shilpa's case things about being Indian, so then Indians watching get offended by it and the press feeds on that...

Those of us who got bullied at skool know what its like, they'll pick on any little thing - your teeth, your clothes, your weight, your race - but those aren't the reasons they are picking on you. They pick on you coz they're bullies! not coz they're fattist or racist.

I was bullied at work by a black girl but nobody listened to me and I ended up resigning. I didnt think it was a race thing, just that she was a bitch that didnt like me and couldnt deal with that like an adult.

Anyway, I really wish Big Brother would pull them up, not on individual comments like the 'go back home thing', but on the fact that they are victimising Shilpa and being complete bitches! I can't believe they aren't worried about how they are coming across to the public. How dumb can you get?! They really can't see how wrong they are!

Gwarrn Carphone Warehouse! That's sooo good. I hate this culture where bullying is glorified. If Big Brother isn't going to make a stand I'm so glad their funders are!

Anyways, its on now and it looks like BB is giving Jade a bollocking in the diary room.....

 

I do feel for Shilpa, you know... She's been getting it, right from the start... Jade's mum disrespected her so much... Come on, how hard can it be to get her name right, it's just two syllables... Shipla... Shapel... Sherpa... Princess... Oi... The Indian... F*ck off!!... And once Jackiey was evicted, Jade (who had kinda been in the background) did STEP UP!

Channel 4 / Endemol weren't gonna squash all this bullsh*t too quickly, seeing as all the kerfuffle over the last week had nearly doubled the viewing figures... But when your sponsor (Carphone Warehouse, gwarn!) pulls out, you know you gotta rein it in?!

As we saw last night, they did pull Danielle up on it... And tonight we saw that they've also pulled up both Jo and Jade... And I wouldn't be surprised if they were all told bareface in that diray room by the producers about what's been going on out here... there's gonna be some serious BACKPEDDLING now, you watch!!!

And you know what, I was willing to give Jade the benefit of the doubt regarding the whole racism thing... Unlike her two sniggering stooges, whose sly, snide remarks have had racist undertones, and at times been just overtly racist... But tonight Jade called Shilpa Shetty...

I have to say I'm so chuffed my boy Chucky D aka the CEO of Carphone Warehouse, has pulled out.....
I got an email yesterday from the head of my dept saying they weren't pulling out of the sponsorship but clearly Charles feels very strongly about this.
I still don't know the FULL story of the racism side of things but the fact that channel 4 are doing and saying nothing about it despite 30K + complaints, that's just slack to me.

Ok, so I watched the show once (the night Jade&fam entered the house) but now, after seeing it making the news headlines I had to check it out and catch up a lil...

Feels like deja-vu! How many times have I found myself coming back to this same conclusion...I blame society...I blame the parents...

Why is everyone so shocked about this behaviour? Is it because it's displayed on TV and carried out by 'so called' celebritites? Let's face it...What we are seeing here is purely a reflection of society! We see it, come across it and many of us experience it every day, or have done at some point in our lives...Why aren't we so outraged about it in real everyday life?!!!!

I was blessed to experience a variety of cultures during my upbringing...I came to the UK 15 years ago at the age of 15...I was shocked to see certain displays of behaviour manifested by my college classmates...It's a different world here...compared to Italy...and they are both part of Europe!!!

Sad to say but bullying and a feeling of superiority compared to other cultures is part of 'British culture'...combine the 2 and u get ugly displays of ignorance & hatred...like these in the CBB house.

Diversity is a beautiful thing...for SOME! Others don't understand the beauty of it...they don't embrace it...they are scared and feel insecure as their ignorance is magnified and they don't want to end up being the victims...so they victimise instead to try protect themselves! Bullies are never happy people...they have their own demons to battle with...many times having been or still being bullied themselves...

How do u expect these grown ass people to behave any different when they probably were left to do the same in their younger days? I dunno about the other 2 but Jade sure didn't have her mum try to correct her awful ways...in fact I can see just where she gets it from! They don't know any better...they were not shown any better...If society don't fix them at school, do u really think they are ever going to change? And if we embrace diversity, why aren't they allowed to be embraced as being 'diverse'? Because it's a nagative type of diversity in our eyes...So we live in Britain and we don't like what we are seeing...we are seeing TRUTH, we are seeing displays of REALITY but we sure have seen them before...What really makes me sad is that it takes for it to happen on Celeb Big Bro for people to talk about it so deeply and give a flying fu&% about it!!

Is it ignorant? YES Is it racist? YES Is it sad? YES DO YOU WANT IT TO CHANGE? WELL, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?!!!!!

You can take a stand and start a petition to have individuals that carry out these displays of behaviour rehabilitated through workshops funded by..guess who? TAXPAYERS...yet again! LOL Or you can accept that the world is diverse...accept that you will not want to share your immediate space with individuals that don't complement your character and ethics...You can chose to move away from it...ignore it, rise above it...Or u can make your point, stand up t it, fight it...the choice is yours...I am thankful I have choices, I am thankful Shilpa chose to deal with it the way she did and she is now feeling better rather than have sank to the other 3 females' level...I am thankful she had Mr Jermaine Jackson supporting her by speaking a whole heap of sense in her ears!

When someone is nasty to me, gets funny or negative towards me, I deal with it...one way or another (however it is more appropriate)...Most of the time I cut that person off...I can chose to entertain that person's BS or i can get them out of my life...I like simplicity and really have no time for headache and nagative vibes...So it's snip snip for me ;) If I was stuck in the BB house I would stay away frm them as much as possible and go on about my business, knowing that it was just a temporary situation...I like to let Karma do its thing...from what I read so far, it's biting back already (withdrawal of perfume sales for Jade, Cancellation of modelling contract for Dan...wonder what Jo's gonna get?)...I see a lot of self hate, insecurity, ignorance and limitations when i see jade, Jo and Dan...They have ganged up to feel stronger and none of them is able to grasp the concept of diversity...not just cultural but HUMANITARIAN! Good luck to them...Lt's just hope that after this they are able to make some changes! x.x.x

TO CONCLUDE AND ANSWER THE ESSENCE OF THE QUESTION...I BELIEVE THAT THEIR ACTIONS ARE MOTIVATED BY IGNORANCE THAT HAS LEAD TO DISPLAYS OF RACISM...ALTHOUGH THEY MIGHT NOT CONSIDER THEMSELVES RACIST THEY HAVE GONE THERE STILL! BUT WHEN IT COMES TO BULLYING AND SEGREGATING SOMEONE OUT U WILL BE SURPRISED AT THE INSULTS AND NAME CALLING THAT COMES OUT...MOST OF THE DIGS AND INSULTS SOMEWHAT DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE...ie fat people making fun of other fat people which are even smaller than what they are (LOL), the 'ugly' girl calling the pretty one 'ugly' etc etc...IT'S ALL LONG AND IT'S ALL STOOOOOOPID! the differences in that house are vast and they aren't just racial... there's age, class, education, culture and more.

like you said, diversity is a beautiful thing... and i embrace that... i have an enquiring mind and can appreciate the things that make us different, individual and unique... old chinese proverb say, he who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever!!!

the way i see it is that around shilpa, jade feels totally inferior and all her negative emotions come to the surface... the insecurity, jealousy, etc etc etc... and it seems that the only way she can make herself feel better about herself is to attack shilpa and bring her down... that's just straight up bullying.

as for the other two, danielle and jo... they gravitated towards jade and have just become her henchmen... her mindless minions... and spineless, because they are cowards who don't take responsibility for their actions... which, in my opinion, makes them ten times worse than jade.

Jade seems to be the leader but that is mainly because of her big gob! If anyone knows what a bully Jade is, its Sophie.  I was getting a real feeling of deja vu watching this show... Quite upsetting...  Nice to hear I am not just being biased because she was mean to my friend!

You know what Vee - that is slightlly harsh, for you to say they deserve to have nothing. You need to think of their upbringings, their way of life. I was fortunate enough to have very open minded parents who never allowed racism in our house, never have never will. Now I'm not gonna sit here and pretend we're all these open-minded, love all races type of people because, even though you might not admit it, we ALL have predudices....
What I'm saying is - it's not Jo and Dan's faullt if their ignorant. It's how your parents bring you up. It will now be up to them to PROVE themselves and CHANGE. If they don't then and only then, will they deserve everything they get. If they can't SEE what they've done or HEAR what they've said and think it's all ok, then I'll be first in line to lynch them!!!! Also - Dan was saying things in the house that were a lot harsher than Jade. I don't know if I feel for Jade or not. All I know is that she's really been thrown in to the media spotlight and she has faced all the press and it is negative press at that (as we all know) and she has apologised for her actions. She's not gone in to hiding, she's not buried her head in the sand.. This isn't going to go away tomorrow.

i hear what you're saying tho, yes it is about a persons upbringing.

but, at the same time we are not talking about children... these are grown-ass ppl... they have minds of their own... they have the ability to think for themselves regardless of whatever values were programmed into them by their parents... although having said that, these women (aged between 23 and 27 yrs) were coming across like they were still in the school playground at times!!!

one thing i heard that jade said (on bblb, i think) which seemed genuinely redeeming, is that when watching the way that she had behaved, she realized that it was the same way that her mother behaves, and she acknowledged that she needs to change, cos she doesn't want to pass that on to her own children (sins of the father and all that, or mother in this case!) and so she's getting therapy. good for her!

i'm not here to take a stand against prejudice, racism, or bullying, or anything else. its more simple than that... all ppl need to do is to treat each other how they themselves would like to be treated, and seeing as nobody actually wants to be treated like a c*nt (do they?) then that transcends it all.
 

Hmmm...Upbringing has a lot to do with it...Society is the main culprit BUT, like U said Chris,these are grown ass females (I simply can't all em Women!! LOL) and by now they are aware of what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'! 

Poor Jade, I feel for her for manifesting her mother's behaviour...we are all made in the image of the Mother...she doesn't have a good role model to follow BUT (yes it gets bigger!!) she has come a long way from leaving home and mixed with loads of people that are great role models and highly inspirational...So she either CHOOSES to remain the way she is or her brain isn't actually capable of taking in certain types of understanding...

It makes me laugh when I think that Jade is the role model of so many young girls out there...I heard so many people say how well she did for herself...not understanding that we allow ourselves to be a product of our own environment and these days our environment is literally and metaphorically falling apart!  She did so well because there are braiwashed individuals out there that believe that acting a fool on tv and making money as a result of it is cool...They think that Jade is a successful business woman and don't understand that she just a big time puppet on a string, being told what to do and signing on the dotted line! LOL

The human race has its priorities all wrong...but that's another subject! LOL

It's all about KARMA...and SHE is a great teacher...for who is prepared to be taught...eventually...

When you hear young kids talking about what they wanna be, they talk about they wanna be famous, like famous is an ACTUAL vocation?! The way it came across was that you're laughing at their mis-fortune due to the consequences of their actions?? That was all.... But each to their own. I think it's excellent that you, me and others think strongly and passionately about these things.
