The redwoods are burning in Big Sur. The pines, the brush, the animals are running wild in the streets. I saw 10 deer in the last few days, 2 raccoons and 4 were just running by outside! They are that close. The car has ashes on it in Monterey about 35 miles away. There are also fires burning east of Cachagua and the firemen have gathered from all over the state of California to help, even other states. A giant camp was set up about a mile from where I work, and my friends who made cookies and goodies for the firemen got me in to play a couple of songs for the firemen after their shifts while they were eating. I was so grateful to them and sang "You Are My Hero" and "Back To Nature" and they were kind enough to stop eating and applaud. The Operations Manager said that was the first time anyone offered to play music for them and that it lifted the men. I'm sure they felt quite heavy from fighting fires that have been burning for weeks that is still only 45% contained.
