UPDATE: 2/16/2008

Our Album is back from the printer and it looks GREAT!
I have decorated the myspace page with lots of art snippets and such.

The album will be on sale, as of 3/26/09... Asian Man might do a pre-sale release, before then. Otherwise, you will have to wait until the release show to get your hands on it.

Keep checking the Asian Man site, at: http://www.asianmanrecords.com

LOST AT SEA.

This album features 10 mean ska & reggae tracks from the band MONKEY... with guest performances from Kincaid Smith (Hepcat).

The album artwork by Parker Jacobs (Yo Gabba Gabba/Paul Frank).

We are very excited, because this is probably the best music we've ever worked on! Local reviews have stated that this album is a true departure from previous monkey tunes and will definitely amaze the music community.

Curt.

What? 11 songs? Are you guys still thinking about releasing another album on a smaller label? Give the fans what they crave! MORE MONKEY!

MONKEY has recorded 2 albums worth of music, in February (2008), in a 9-day writing/recording fiesta...

The first album is set to release from Asian Man Records, sometime soon.

The second album will probably release on another label... Possibly Jump Up records in Chicago.

Since both albums were recorded at the same time, they have a certain continuity and cohesiveness about them. Friends and family that have heard the new tunes are already referring to it as Monkey's "break-out" album, or the "Pet Sounds" of a new generation.

The albums were recorded at the world famous Rockwell Sounds recording studio, by Brian Wallace. Brian has also done recordings for the Aggrolites, Westbound Train, After Dark, See Spot and has also recorded with Sublime (Baritone Sax on 40oz to Freedom) and many other bands.

In any case, the tunes are definitely different that what we normally record, and I feel that they are unique, when compared to other acts in the genre.

Our album is getting closer to release.

Mastering legend John Cuniberti (The Plant), is now in the process of mastering our new album! He's getting all the right sounds, using high end equipment from the 70's, to give it that "real" sound!

John has also done mastering for these acts:

Jerry Garcia
Dave Matthews
Garaj Mahal
Lyrics Born
Thomas Dolby
Aerosmith
Dead Kennedys
Neville Brothers
Ray Manzarek
Blackalicious
The Grateful Dead
Aaron Neville
Tracy Chapman
Ringo's Allstar Band
Joe Satriani
The Funky Meters

So, the album is in good hands... This one's going to sound really sweet!

Okay...

I have the new CD in hand and it looks and sounds great!

The official release date is March 27th at the Balazo Gallery show in San Francisco. You will not be able to purchase one, until then...

However, I think that Mike is going to do some pre-sales through Asian Man Records:

Http://www. asianmanrecords. com

So, keep your eyes peeled for that.
