Category: Music

I just wanted to thank all of our Early Pearl fans for not only helping us reach the top 10 (out of hundreds of bands) in the Garage to Ozz battle, but for coming out and showing the ultimate support during the live battle. We love and appreciate you all, and would have never made it this far without you. We may have been the "odd men out" compared to most of the bands there, but you would have never known it by our fans' reactions.

Most people say Early Pearl is not even a metal band. We don't scream, bleed or cuss on stage. We have backing vocals, hook-ladened songs and very few tattoos. Our fans don't mosh, and in most cases, our shows are pretty family-friendly. What we do have is a strong sense of pride, esprit de corps, and an undying love and passion for music. On the night of the contest, we arrived Early Pearl... and we left Early Pearl. We didn't conform to a stereotype, we didn't pretend to be something or look like something we weren't, and we never felt like we didn't deserve to be there. And that is truly what the "Metal" we grew up with (Zeppelin, Ozzy, Metallica, Van Halen, Pantera, Iron Maiden) really represents. I'm not making excuses for not winning or even placing in the contest, but after hearing comments such as, "bring on a real band" or "get 'Seal' off the stage," i felt it necessesary to comment back. Many of the bands that competed that night are our friends. Others, we had never met or even heard of. But we all have one thing in common... Truly the best rock bands in Texas (and Turkey????)

Thanks EP fans for being our friends and for supporting local music. We'll see you at the top!

I definetely feel the contest was rigged, and the "cookie-cutter" bands have flooded the scene and don't really have a LOVE for the music scene. I mean anyone can get up there and scream into a microphone...don't get me wrong, it takes talent for it all to work, but seriously, have your own sound and don't conform to what everyone else is doing!!! I think you guys had an AMAZING set and definetely should've received some accalades for the performance.

There is only one thing I can say about you guys.......they will see you soon everywhere and will be so damn envious, but when you HAVE TALENT good things happen. We wish you guys the best of luck, and we will see you guys on the 16th!!!!!!!!

Tough break on that show. I feel that the best bands there didn't even have a shot at winning. That is the reason LOADED MOSES didn't even enter the contest. As you and I both know, Battle of the Bands are never about the music or the best band. Its money and politics. Its too bad that the really good bands that night (Early Pearl and Moving Atlas) aren't a band full of politicians instead of musicians. (Sarcasm)

I think you guys are good enough to make it without playing the butt-crack of dawn at OzzFest for a small group of people that could care less about anyone other than Ozzy and Metallica. You deserve better.

Rock on fellas.

Guys sorry to hear that you did not win, And I am sure that it was not due to a lack of energy, I have seen the videos, I have heard the fans, and I have and leastin to your album, Thanks to Bishop and Jameson, through a mutual friend in Chad. EP has a drive and energy level of any major band. The reacton your fans give you and get envolved is amazing, You guys may not scream, growl, mosh, cuss, but you drive, you drive the music from inside you into those who see you, and they all respond, they all can relate.

Ozzfest, its just another show of mainstream, its what the record company wants you to do, thats not music. Music is what you make it, its the sound of your soul being heard through your words. your hands, your feet.

The ones who lost is not Early Pearl, Its everyone else on that stage and in the crowd and behind the scenes, who lost, who lost out on seeing a band that is simply amazing. I do not have the word to say how awsome EP is.

So Bishop, Jameson, Bobby, Chris I., Chris J., and anyone else who works with Early Pearl, and all of Early Pearls fans. Stand high, for you guys are always the winners. But I am sure you dont need me to tell you that.

Horns Up,
Wayne

I'm sorry, but it takes more than screaming, even screaming .., to be a metal band. Were they judging this thing on who needed the most work? Oh, woops, I said "judging"! That was probably a mistake.

I didn't happen to hear any of the comments mentioned at the show, and I'm kind of glad I didn't.

See you saturday!

Metal or not, you guys rock it hard... It's been a long road for you guys since we played with ya'll a couple years ago, and as always we look forward to sharing the stage with you guys again soon! You guys are as "real" a band as any of those other bands up there... And Seal rocks... Haven't you seen his wife??? :-)

i love you guys SO much...i didn't hear any negative comments, thankfully. All I heard was all the fans screaming and rocking their asses off. You did an AMAZING job...the contest HAD to be a rigged thing...i mean, seriously....and WHEN you guys are traveling nationally, playing for a million fans...the bands that won will still be stuck here wishing they were you. :)

See ya on Saturday!!!

I agree 100%. you guys rocked it out and I enjoyed seeing you. I believe there is more to music then just seeing how much you can growl on a microphone, how fast you can kick the bass drum, and how many groupies you can get on the judges. My favorite perfomances were Early Pearl and Moving Atlas. Can't wait to share the stage again with you guys.

All bias set aside, you guys rocked the show, and although the results were not exactly what we wanted them to be, we know who the true winners are.....Those of you who walked away with your heads held high, knowing that your talent is something special and believeable. And that goes for each member of not only Early Pearl, but the other bands that were ousted by people who obviously did not know talent when it was right in front of their face. I really thought mediocrity was to be checked at the door, but apparently it was being sold at the bar. If they would have taken their eyes OFF the chicks taking their shirts off, put their cell phones down, and used their so-called judging skills, perhaps the REAL talent in the show would have been recognized. Either way, when you guys are at the top, and you're looking back on this, you can at least get a serious laugh....Because those same guys will be in the same place doing the same damn thing.....And they'll be wishing they had the talent, the drive, and the ability to get to where you'll are! I'm excited for you guys, and proud of you'll for everything you've worked so hard to achieve! Keep it up, and you'll get where you're going....Sooner rather than later!!
And as for those "Seal" comments....Sorry, but I'm sorely biased here....If a man has the gift of voice such as Bishop does, it should be celebrated, regardless of the genre of music he's involved with, race or anything otherwise.
Oh.....And for those of you that have a problem with him being with a white woman, such as myself.....Lemme just say this.....Bet ya I can give ya 10 reasons why he's the greatest person I've ever been with. And when I'm done with that, I'll tell you the reasons why I love him too. Would you like fries with that???

I was in attendance for the first three bands. I felt like the SEAL comment was very rude, as well as the SAME dickhead with the mic jacking with the DJ girl from 97.1

We are in Texas, and don'
t give a shit about some yankee fuck's request for tits, and his continued disrespect for her, as well as the shitty SEAL comment towards you. It was the exact reason I was very happy to leave when my party asked if i minded.

The P.A. system at the Paladium is stellar state of the art gear. Whoever was running it that night was clueless. All of the vocals were buried in low end rumble. It was horrible.

I have listened to your music on the site and like it. I really like that you SING and I'm not waiting for a lung cookie to come flying out. lol

BTW I'm friends with Angie....your drummers GF

Keep on rockin'

As the manager of this awesome band, I feel obligated to take the majority of the blame for the results of this "CONTEST". I should have foreseen the inevitable outcome, but was assured by some high ranking officials that is was all on the up and up. I was convinced as I watched the "JUDGES" texting people and cutting up with each other that the outcome was predetermined. Early Pearl is Early Pearl and that is why I asked to manage them a couple of years ago. I once had a label head tell me that they didn't sound like anyone else and how was he supposed to promote them. I told him I would promote them based on the fact they don't sound like anyone and then declined to sign with the label, since I was convinced the label was being run by a moron. Things happen for a reason and EP will come out on top.
We were supposed to sign with a industry giant and then they decided to pass only to fire 60 top executives and close down their entire recorded music division. Had we signed, we would have been cut loose anyway. Early Pearl doesn't need OZZFEST to achieve what we are trying to achieve. Early Pearl has picked up a major corporate sponsor in SHOTPAK. Shotpak was looking for a straight up hard rocking party band and they selected Early Pearl......We won that contest. So if you want to support Early Pearl and get them to the level they deserve endorse their sponsors as well as the band. On a closing note, one thing about the evening that the OZZFEST people and AEGLIVE should hang their heads in disgust over is the fact that Big Dave's crude rude behavior and desire to see tits and get his sack sucked was witnessed by and ALL AGES crowd and it is unacceptable behavior in front of 8 -14 year old boys and girls and that is the real crime here. Thanks to all the fans for their continued support and a special thanks to Early Pearl's bass playa "Ivey" for a well thought out comment on a sad situation.
