Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Hello everyone,

I hope if your reading this you are well, and I hope if you"re not well, you realize that it will be ok sooner than you think.  Like for instance, I'm at coffee shop in Los Angeles, and the song they are playing is really really bad, but I'm sure it wont last for more than 3:20.  Ah yes, here's the fade. Better.  Much Better.

There's always a lot going on.  There's always a lot going on.  Had a great time touring this summer with my friend Joe Firstman.  Thanks to everyone that came to the shows and made it a fantastic tour.  Also, thanks to Joe for putting it together and having me out.  Damn, the corn in Pennsylvania looked healthy.  Sadly, I can't say the same for my home state of Texas.  Very dead.  Very Brown.  Very Dead.

Thanks also to those who purchased the Sleepy Creepy EP along the way.  I printed a limited number of copies, never to be duplicated again.  They are sold out.  I had a blast making it, and while a couple of the songs may show themselves on the upcoming record, it will not be available on itunes anytime in the near future.  I meant it sort of as a tour party favor, albeit, one I charged money for.  I realize a few silicon savvy so and sos have been sharing it online, and that's cool, thanks for listening.  Lars hates file sharing, I don't care. "What the world needs now, is another folk singer..." Coffee shop changed the station, I like this song better, much better "...Like i need a hole in my head".  Of course i would prefer to have your money, but Im just trying to get enough for a solid gold boat and suits of armor for everyone I know, then I'm out of the game anyway.

So yeah, Im back in LA, working on finishing the new record, playing a few shows, staying busy.  I was supposed to be across the pond very soon, but due to circumstances far beyond my control, it has been pushed back until Feb.  I was very much looking forward to coming over, as I always do, but i am thankful for the time to sit still for a second.  Hang out in the studio.  Make a new record.  Play a few shows with my band.  Write. There are new dates for the UK and Ireland already and the rest of the rescheduled European dates will be posted soon.  I will be touring solo, supporting my good friend Tom McRae, who has a new record coming out in the new year.  Tom has been a great friend and an amazing supporter of my music for many years now, and I can only extend my most humble gratitude to him for inviting me out again. His band, crew, and fans are fantastic, and the previous tours have been some of the best times in my life. I expect nothing less from this one.

Why am I not on Facebook?  I think technically, there is a spot that bears either my or my bands name, but i have never seen it, don't know how it got there, and don't know what to do with it. I'm not saying I won't get involved, just haven't yet.  So thank for coming back to the old neighborhood and saying hello.  Hello. Im well, thanks for asking. You?

The new record will be out soon.  When? Soon. and it's real, real, good.

Until then, if your in the LA area, I will be playing some shows both solo and with my band at the Hotel Cafe in October.  There will be tons of new songs, and a few of the old ones.  Hope you can make it.

Best wishes,
Brian Wright

Although I'm sorry to hear your tour was pushed until the Spring, I am happy at the thought of perhaps seeing you either at a show in LA or...dare I ask...a show here at Zoey's?  We must make this happen.  xoxo P and S

Great to hear some news from you and 'phew', that you'll still be coming to the UK next year!

A new Catherine album, new Jim tracks, a new Tom album, and a new BWright album, it's all turning out rather damn fine in the end

Sorry you won't make it to the UK until next year, I was really looking forward to hearing and seeing you again.
Any chance of more Hotel Cafe shows in the UK ?

The suit of armour arrived today Brian, it fits perfectly, thank you. Any word yet on the boat? I suspect we'll need a bigger one. x

Am SO glad you are still coming over! Phew!!!!!

I am also so glad that Emily got me a copy of Sleepy Creepy and mailed it to me here in England, I owe that amazing girl a whiskey or ten!

AND - as for your Facebook page - I don't know about the page in your name but Colin initially set up a fangroup named Sad Clowns which has been on there for many an old mountain now, and we have all contributed to it when possible :)  So it's ticking along in the background, worry ye not.

Oh and sir, just one last thing - is your email address still the same?

:)

Always a pleasure to read your scribbles :)

Brian, man, I'm so damn proud to be a pal of yours, and a long-time Waco Tragedies fan. We just finished another record, and I'd love to come support your new music in October, and share with you ours.

I spoke with Robert a few months back, wanted to share our record with you and him. Glad you are back in town, maybe i can grab you a pint and learn some new dirty jokes you heard on the road??

Need an opener for those Hotel slots? the new stuff is very B-Wright-And-The-Tragedies-FRIENDLY!
all my best amigo!

Hi Brian
We met thru Sal at Piano Bar a few weeks back. How are you doing, right back atcha? On that note, why do people always ask that and half the time the other person doesn't answer or doesn't think before they answer and tell the truth about it. the conversation would naturally start from there and would actually mean something. digression. i was at your show last Friday, toetappin great as usual. im gonna try to make it again this Friday cuz you're just that good but there's also a nice show at room 5 so i'm conflicted. but it will work itself out, it always does. in this day and place, it is downright quaint that you aren't on facebook.

I'm a little late reading, but it is good to see your blog.  Sounds like your having fun and getting ready to have more.  I wasn't happy that we missed you this summer.  Damn David!  It's funny that I read this today and also joined the fan club on Facebook today.  Irony, huh?  Have fun across the pond.  Drink a pint for me, please.  If you get home before you leave you might want to check out that solid gold boat Spore was talkin about.  Can't wait for the new record!
