I have not posted a blog for a while and I have been getting a lot of intrest at the club from people that want to Dj or just have general questions about Dj'ing Sooo here are a few thoughts and comments.......

I guess first off I would say I love to play Dance music and get people bouncing to what I am playing, when I have a dance floor full of people I have Power over them, I OWN THEM, Their Soul belongs to me for the next 5 to 15 min, I can make them move slow or fast, I can make them scream at the top of their lungs, Jump up and down, get them close to that person that they have beed staring at all nite and I can be the one that sparks a memory of somthing special, you know what i mean, a song that was yours and his, a song that brings back a memory of a special person in you life, that song may make you sad or it may bring a smile to your face when you hear it. EVERYONE has a Song, Kita loves to throw down to Dj Trashy's XTC, Christy has to kick it to Dj Teisto As The Rush Comes and Break My fall, My wife Allison likes to listen to Enigma.
Music has power and the Dj weilds that power like a sharp sword, I never get tired of playing to a crowd, Dj's feed off the enegery of their crowd like it's a drug, you can't get enough.  I play gig's for little or no money at all because I love being a Dj, Now don't get me wrong I like getting paid but sometimes when someone comes up and says what a good time they had and how they enjoyed the music, that make it worth it. Now when I use my own gear thats a diffrent story, Dj equiptment ain't cheap, well you can buy cheap but you will get what you pay for, I have a set of original Technics 1200's made back in the 80's, they were like $700.00 a peice back then, they weigh like 30 pounds and have been rebuilt twice, I have a Pioneer DMJ 600 that cost me $1500.00, I got the CDJ 1000 when it came out for a drop in the bucket, $1499.00, I own 5 amps that range from $500.00 to $1500,00 a peice, then you have to throw in your Eq's, your crossovers, your Compressor and I also have an Aural exciter for a clean sound. Don't forget about speakers, OMG, again you get what you pay for, I have a set of Peavey SP2-XT's and a set of bandpass subs, I have to recone the SP2's every year(that means to pretty much replace the speakers in the cabnet) at the cost of $200.00 or so. My total comes somewhere between 10 and 15 grand worth of gear. Don't get me started on the cost of needles, cords, headphones and other accessories needed to keep a Dj in the mixx. It Ain't cheap to be a good Dj,
 Let's touch on what I think a REAL Dj Is...... If you don't have a set of turn tables and a stack of Vinyl you ain't got the life blood of the true Dj, I respect all the cats out there doing the electronic thing and I even use the pioneer CDJ 1000 as well as a program that I mixx from off my laptop, but when you spin records your touching, your feeling, your closer to the music or even a part of it. A spining record Is a beautful thing, The Smell of Vinyl when it come out of the jacket is somthing some "Dj's" have never even experenced. Yeah you can do a billion things by going digital, you can get beats, loops, samples, sound effects and stuff that's wicked cool and that takes a lot of talent to master but I think the essence of the Dj Comes from learning on a set of  Technics 1200's and never puting them in the closet. True Story...... I was spining one night and a girl comes into my booth and see's me playing off my turntables, she was like "that's where the music is comming from, I did not know you could even still buy records or record players" I almost fell out. Go to any bar in anniston and see what he is useing to play music with, If you can find a Dj. Since I started back at the Moose I don't bring much, I bring my laptop, On Saturday's when Scott and Kevin and all the cool People come in I set up my Pioneer mixer and The CDJ 1000 because I want to try and give them a little quality, when the club starts drawing more than 100 people and I start getting paid better then i will bring the full show like the one we are throwing on the 7th of march. well I'm not sure if yall have had time to read my lil book but I'm gonna stop for now and go chill with Allison, you want to Be a Dj........
