Played a show in Tucson last night. It is perhaps my favorite city we've stopped in so far. It reminds me a little bit of a very large Davis. The show itself was very strange--played in a warehouse that hosts underground shows. On the down side, the acoustics were terrible. On the plus side, they had a climbing rope hanging from the ceiling & a very friendly booker.
Perhaps it was the smell of California, but after the show I couldn't wait to head west towards my native land. My bandmates (best dudes in the world) humored my redbull-induced compulsion and suffered through me driving most of the night. As the sun started rising we finally pulled into a rest stop for a couple hour nap. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning due to excitement about returning to California and seeing friends in San Diego, so I woke Charles up after only 2 hours of sleep. He was pretty tired and did a couple laps around the rest area to
"rally his senses." This is all fine and good, but he was wearing his
Tom's and looked a little silly. Then on to sunny San Diego.
[Side note: Border Patrol check points are scary when you're driving a large white van with tinted windows.]
Spent a blissful day in San Diego lounging on the beach. Good to be back in California, even if it is only for a day! Tomorrow we head back to Arizona for a show in Phoenix.
Hello, California!
xoxo, a tired but happy nina/satb
