There was Government survey in the UK that found a large percentage of peeps reckon it takes too much effort to be green. So they don't bother. (An equally large number do, though.) A reader comments, "Every time I ride my bicycle, there are shiny new hummers on the road. I turn off the light when i leave the room, but office towers stay illuminated 24/7. It's frustrating and demoralizing to be surrounded by idiots who counteract everything your do. why don't people get it?" A sentiment that many treehuggers can no doubt empathise with. But major societal change is not without it's frustrating moments. Nelson Mandela surely ruminated on this during his 27 years in prison, before he was ultimately successful against apartheid. Just because people don't 'get it' today, doesn't mean they won't tomorrow, or next week , or... TH showcases the results from people who are already on board. See below.

Last week we mentioned TH Radio was talking to Vinay Gupta, the creator of the Hexayurt. Now you can read a transcript of the full TH Interview or download a podcast for your aural pleasure. Vinay Gupta is half Indian, half Scottish, and residing in Iceland. An engineer at heart, Gandhi and Buckminster Fuller are two of Vinay's heroes. But the real magic is in combining Gandhi's political thought with Fuller's engineering, what Gupta calls a "curry and chips phenomenon." And, of course, you're already in the know that TreeHugger newsletters can be had packaged in cute bite sized bytes, like our Daily newsletter. And see that lil blue, left-hand link below? Clicking on it will forward this missive to your mates. If you are reading this in Azerbaijan, then we bid you "sag olun" until next week.

All you liberal tree huggin whack-offs can suck my balls. I cut down trees for a living and I want the US to say fuck you to environmentalists and drill drill drill! Screw the caribou and that damned polar bear. And please, move in with polar bears. I'm sure you would taste good to them

You didn't just compare people driving hummers and office buildings leaving lights on to APARTHEID, did you?

Yes, you say "But major societal change is not without it's frustrating moments."
I say never give up brother!

.....but would it not be lovely if solar technology advanced to the point that we didn't have to consider the amount of energy it takes to run a PC? We wouldn't have to worry about anything but the cost of maintenance. Oh and then we could turn personal energy else where :)

Savmosis - you must have been pretty upset when you discovered that you couldn't design your page with your favourite crayons. And I really thought that rednecks were a myth. Shame. Say hello to your cousin for me buddy and hope you don't get hit by one of those falling trees (great job btw, your sister must be proud).
