How do I get my band noticed by MCMAF?

How much is the registration fee for acts to perform at MCMAF?
-Registration fee is $10.00 per act and payable to SonicBids.
What selection criteria does MCMAF follow?
-MCMAF
has a selection process that uses a variety of criteria icluding
originality, artistic merit, and potential draw. Since MCMAF focus a
large part of the festival on local emerging artists, we also look at
how a band fits into the local music community.
If my I am based outside of San Francisco, can my act or band perform in the Mission Creek Music and Arts Festival?
-Yes, we encourage all bands/artists to apply.
What selection criteria does MCMAF follow?
-In
selecting which performers will play the festival, MCMAF uses a variety
of criteria including talent, creativity, originality, and potential
draw. Since we focus a large part of the festival on local emerging
artists, we also look at how a band fits into the local music scene: Do
you have a community of support that will come to your shows? Are you
able to draw people from outside your circle of friends? While we are
excited to give new performers a chance, and don't expect a single band
to sell out an entire venue, we need to feel that you take it seriously
and promote, so the show is a success.
When will my bands/artists be paid for my performance at MCMAF?
-Performers will be paid within two weeks of the end of the festival.
Will my band or act be paid for expenses? Will we get a guarantee?
-Generally
speaking, bands will be offered percentage guarantee, with certain
exceptions. Although acts traveling long distances will not be
compensated for travel expenses, this may be factored in at the end of
the night; other factors affecting the amount you receive may include:
Who was the headliner? Who had the biggest draw? Which band has the
greatest number of members? Which band was most helpful (sharing
backline, etc).
Will my act be included in promotion and advertising?
-Yes.
MCMAF will promote your act in all promotions and advertising. Since
Mission Creek is a volunteer based organization, we expect the bands
and performers to promote the shows, be punctual, cooperative, and
pleasant to work with.
How will I know if my act has been chosen to perform at MCMAF?
-You will be contacted by MCMAF if you have been chosen.
When will I be notified that I have been selected?
-If
you have been chosen to perform you will receive notice as soon as
possible. A final line-up will be decided at least one week prior to
the festival.
How long will I be able to perform?
-Set length will depend on how many acts are on the bill, but usually ranges from 30 - 45 minutes.
Can I sell merchandise for my act at the festival shows?
-Yes. MCMAF will set up and run merch tables at all events. Artists will receive 100% of sales.
Can I have a guest list?
-Bands/Artists
will be allowed one guest per member. If you have press or label people
coming to your event, please notify us before the show to get their
names added to the list.
Will I be able to choose which event of the MCMAF I will perform in?
-No. Your suggestions and requests will be taken into consideration, but all acts are placed by the Festival Committee.
