TYE TRIBBETT & G.A. JOIN WITH GREATER GRACE FELLOWSHIP TO ROCK THE BLOCK IN NEWARK, NJ
Newark, NJ (August 18, 2008) - On Saturday August 23, 2008, Newark, NJ will never be the same when revolutionary Gospel artist Tye Tribbett and Greater Anointing (G.A.) will take their "Good in the Hood" tour and join Pastor Hilton Rawls and his congregation from Greater Grace Fellowship Church to "Rock Da Block." Beginning at 2pm on the corners of Jeliff & Avon Avenues, the church's annual street festival/celebration is a free family and community friendly event, complete with free food, music, face painting, contests, and singing. Tribbett decided to donate his time to "Rock Da Block" because he believes that there is still "good in the hood" and he will use his voice to celebrate all of those who have decided to be positive images in their community.
The "Good in the Hood" tour was a result of the feel-good inspirational song that is featured on Tribbett's latest album, Stand Out. As a part of his "Good In The Hood" tour, Tribbett and G.A. have visited inner cities throughout the country lending his support and spreading the message that good can come from the inner city – those who have stayed in school, those who didn't choose to stay in the streets – Tribbett is leading the charge in applauding those young men and women who may never make the headline news. Tribbett hopes that he can help dispel all of the negative connotations associated with the inner city.
Tye Tribbett is a husband, father, Gospel singer, songwriter, and producer who is widely known for his high energy, dramatic performances and choreography. His first two albums, Life (2004) and Victory Live! (2006) propelled Tye & G.A to the top of the Gospel music charts and garnered three Grammy nominations and multiple Stellar Gospel Awards. His latest album Stand Out (2008) solidified Tye as a musical mastermind. Stand Out, which shot to 1 of the Gospel charts, is a refreshing testament of Tye's ability to reach young people.
Along with the Greater Grace Fellowship Church, "Rock Da Block" is also being presented in conjunction with The Southward Community Collaborative and The Safe Summer Initiative
