I would like everyone that I work with or will work with to know why I am always behind on CD completions. I don't edit every single day. I don't like to stay on the computer while my children (ages 10, 6 & 4) are left unattended. My husband works evenings.
I try to balance mommy-hood and work like everyone else.  I edit after my children go to bed.
I am fortunate to stay booked almost daily with shoots but UNfortunatley, this causes me to stay behind!

Sunday- EDITING after kids are in bed. Usually from 9:00- 12:00

Monday- same as above. EDITING 9:00- 12:00

Tuesday- Husbands day off. Family night with our kids.

Wednesday- Husbands day off. Spend time with family in between EDITING off and on.

Thursday- Editing after kids are in bed. Husband works until 1:00 so I EDIT 9:00-1:00

Friday- Usually do 2 shoots on a Friday while husband works. No editing on Friday.

Saturday- EDITING for a few hours after 9:00 pm

..so you can calculate the time I get to sit and edit and shoots every day and see why I cannot guarantee my 2 week time frame. I hired edit help a few months ago. She is tremendous help to me but we still cannot keep up!

What do I consider "EDITING"?
With Weddings, I end up with roughly 700+ shots.
Sessions, anywhere from 60-150.
I go through EVERY SINGLE image to make sure each one is PRINT worthy. No bad pictures! No blurry shots or shots where my flash didn't go off, etc.
With sessions, almost every photo is edited. I enhance with particular photoshop tools that I prefer to use and I have become pretty anal about it, I HAVE to use them to be happy with my photos! If you do a studio shoot, those edits take the longest because I do skin touch up on every photo.

With shooting every day, please expect a delay. If I go back to shooting just 2-3 times a week, I will go back to delivering on time. I have just ran across some very rude clients. Only a couple luckily. I work with a lot of kind, patient people who understand and tell me I am worth the wait but their are a couple others who were just NASTY.

With all that I provide, If I am sick or have a child with the flu or a death in the family, like ANY other job, I WILL take off time which WILL make me even more behind.

If you want photography that is like no studio you can go to and you can afford to go a month for truly unique, one of a kind ART, then pick me, pick me!
If you have a deadline and want edited images by a certain date around the corner, I am NOT the photographer you should choose. ...hit the road.

You go girl !  Didn't need to explain it to me, but sure great for a client to know all that goes into a quality photo !  Adding textures, making collages, etc. definitely takes time, but gives the prints a unique look.  You are an amazing photographer to handle all that you do !  I dont shoot near as much as you do, but can relate to all that goes into it.  I never seem to catch up.   I finally broke bad and cancelled lots of sessions in November, hopefully rescheduling after first of year.  It's time for a break, lol !

Editing does take a lot of time. I see that you have hired someone to help you. With your quality of work and the sessions you have booked and don't forget the home life, maybe it's time to consider hiring more help if only a couple more for them to do all the editing and booking. Thou you would have the final say in what goes out. Your business has taken a really big jump, so now you need to take that jump and hire. Yes it will come out of the profits, but with the quality of work and the time you put into it maybe its time to raise your prices if anything to cover the hired help. Either way everyone sees and loves your work they will be back to you over and over.

This was your Dr. Phil of the day ;)

Well anyone with half a brain should understand that your family comes first...as it should.  Your photography is amazing!!  It's so worth the wait!  You are an incredible woman for taking on all that you do and people should have a little more patience! (okay so Axyl Rose came to mind after typing that last sentence!)

Tell those fuckers to shove it up their asses.  No one takes pics like you, if they have to wait 6 months then they should be grateful that you used your talents to make their ugly asses look beautiful IN EVERY SHOT!!  Id give them the unedited pics as soon as they said something and tell them to edit them their damn self.

Girl I would wait a year to get my photos from you with no fussing...you're just that damn good lol! I can't believe ppl get upset about that when it clearly shows on ur profile that u are busy as a bee with photo shoots alone, not to mention you have a life outside of photography! People are so inconsiderate these days. Anyway don't stress it you are the best and I know there are many people who don't mind waiting on u to catch up!

You go Brandy...I completely feel you on that.  I work FT as a Nurse and just do my photography here and there, and I hate to say it, but sometimes friends are the worst and wanting it right away. Especially when your doing them a favor with reduced cost, or no cost at all.  I really don't think people realize what all intells into editing and making things print worthy...and the quality and uniqueness of our art...BRAVO my dear....BRAVO!!! I hope the family had a GREAT Halloween btw!
