Dynamite Arrows - Blowin' It EP

The first track here sounds like nerdy Snuffy Smiles-style pop punk crossed
with HARD SKIN--it sounds great. The next track is more straight up, faster,
melodic punk--not quite as anthemic as the first song, but great nonetheless.
This is a really good record, and these guys sound very fresh, not just another
tired OFF WITH THEIR HEADS clone. This could have been on one of those No Idea
samplers in '99 or 2000 (and blown everybody away) but it sounds great
today. I think they're from New York, but I can't be sure. Anyway, if
you like your punk rock upbeat, melodic, catchy, yet with an edge, then you need
to hear this, it's brilliant. Drop my new favorite band a line at... (AD)

From Ox Fanzine number 78 (German Zine, as translated by our Austrian friend
Isabella)

The two singles of Dynamite Arrows have been recorded at the same time and
therefore are reviewed at the same time. First four songs, then two and two more
from the richmond based Brainworms. You can tell straight away what dynamite
arrows are trying to get across musically wise.wonderful cheeky pop punk that
reminds me more of kid dynamite and lifetime than blink 182. it rocks and its
played in a really cool way with melodies that keep ringing in your ears and
just cheer you up. Also the unclean recordings make it more special. Perfect
music for lightheartedly hanging out at a lake during summertime.

Dynamite Arrows
Split 7"

....Beginning mid-tempo before kicking into that classic 2 chord muted
punk rock riffing, "Hobo Clown Love Song" is a tribute to that late 70's
punk era with guitar giving away to just the rhythm section, then some sweet
"ooo's" overtop. Good stuff. But the real winner of the 2 songs here, in
name and noise, is "Lady, I'm Fucking Dead" which bears a similar
resemblance to the theme from King Of The Hill. Perhaps this is where the
Refreshments have been hiding out? Hardly. The Arrows do far more with their
energy than all lame-o 90's alt rockers put together. Instead of the tender
"ooh's" we get some great "everybody in the band go whoa" and about
two seconds of soloing. Like the best of the genre it's over far too soon but
you never mind taking the needle back across the vinyl & pushing play again. Catchy, good ol' fashioned summer time punk this one is.

Dynamite Arrows are from Brooklyn, NY and play poppy mid-tempo punk rock which will get you in a good mood. I haven't heard of these guys before but I hope to do so in the future 'cause I like this 7" a lot. My favorite song on "Blowin' It" is the first song on side A entitled "Quality of Life" which makes me think of Off With Their Heads, but the truth is that all four songs are great. Over all this is sort of a lo-fi production but it fits the songs and the band's sound in general like hand in glove. Personally I like this sound and this band a lot and I look forward to hear more from them as soon as possible. Also, the artwork of this 7" is really cool. I especially like the back cover with a guy biting another guy's head off. It looks like someone who's in a mental-hospital drew it. It's awesome. Very good. Very good indeed.
