May ’09 East Coast Tour

Pokey LaFarge & the South City Three

Hello friends,

Thank god its spring, when the grass starts to grow tall from all the rain fall and the scent of honeysuckles fills the air.  No more layers. No more will we hide inside. The sun and the road are calling us all. For those of you still hiding, what are you waiting for? Get your ass out there. And for those of us out there doing it, please proceed; rip roaring and ready to go-onward ho!

We just got back from the three week west coast tour almost 48 hours ago and today we leave for another two and a half weeks or so, this time on the east coast. Come May 31st we will have done the entire country, coast to coast in a month and a half.  How can we ever repay the kind folks we met on the west coast this time? It was the best. Y’all ARE the best. We’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to the people of Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and California. We will see you again in October and November. How bout it! We didn’t get arrested, we got GHB poisoning (date rape drug) for the first time, played with some of our favorite bands, and we even came home with a little sun on our faces.

Lineup-Shake-up

It will just be me and “the South City Two” for the next month. Ryan Koenig(Harmonica, washboard, and vocals) will be staying home for the next two weeks to write a new record with his band, St. Louis’ finest, the Rum Drum Ramblers. Then he’ll rejoin us when we go down to Mississippi and Tennessee in June. But then Adam Hoskins(guitar extraordinaire) will be going on tour with Krafted in Korea. So Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three will not be touring as a whole unit until mid June when we tour the Southeast and record our new records in Nashville. Stay tuned for more info on that.
