Ahhh, Spring! And a
girl's fancy turns to.......Road Trip!! Kathy's highly successful
"Moving Mountains" Tour rolls on into 2009 in support of her latest
release, "COAL". Many of the April-May concerts are combined with her
multi-media educational program, "My Coal Journey", in cooperation with
the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, which sponsors the presentations on
campuses
and in theaters to reach and engage their local communities. Look for
tour dates in the Northeast, Maryland, West Virginia, the Carolinas,
Georgia, and several stops in Tennessee. Check out the schedule on the
"Tour" page at www.mattea.com.
Fingerpickin'......
Discussin'....
And speaking of
speaking.... Kathy has been invited to address several divergent groups
in the coming
months: her now annual "Finding Your Path" talk in Nashville with
visiting students from Boston's Berklee College of Music, the keynote
address for
the Pennsylvania Arts Presenters conference, held this year in
Pittsburgh, and the commencement address for students, faculty, and
alumni of the
Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, scene of some exciting
research into geothermal energy capture and use. (Not to mention that
Dr. Mattea will finally get to wear her "PhD Outfit" when she gives the
address!)
For those of you who may
live in the Nashville area, or might be planning a trip there this
Spring,
Kathy's May 15 show at the legendary Station Inn bluegrass club is a
virtual sellout already! Due to the influx of several hundred of her
colleagues from The Climate Project conference that weekend, only a few
seats and standing room tickets are available that night, on a
first-come,
first-served basis. The Station Inn folks have graciously offered up a
second night that week, Wednesday May 13, so that music-loving locals
and
tourists alike will have another opportunity to catch Kathy and her
smokin' acoustic band in an intimate and laid-back setting. Doors open
at 7
pm-
Come early for good cold beer and great hot pizza!
and Strummin' up a "Winner"....
