Right now it's the evening for me, although when you read this I suppose it could be any time at all. Even so, good evening. I hope you are having/had a nice one.
First of all, let me start off by thanking everyone who came to see me play in Elk Grove the other day, at Coach's in Elk Grove. I don't know why, but I have a very hard time wrapping my head around any sort of success I've had. I think I could win a thousand awards and still almost pee my pants before shows because I think no one is going to show up. But, well, you do show up. You do, and you did. And not just young people either, I'm really proud of that. I'm not a children's musician and I'm not an adult's musician. I'm a person's musician and I play my music for people. Good music is good music, and can be enjoyed by all. I really and honestly believe that that's the truth.
That being said, on the heels of the whole Sac Show Awards thing, I've been working like a crazy person to make my shows more fun and entertaining for you all. I really love the behind-the-scenes work of shows...the clothing and the set-up and the merchandise. You may not notice it for more than a few seconds, but it really does take some time to plan for that and I feel like I'm getting the hang out it. I'm pretty proud of myself, actually. All those nights I spent practicing and writing, and practicing and writing some more...they're starting to pay off and it's a wonder!
Lately my life has been very Alice and Wonderland themed. When you see the video we shot for Katie, You're A Hero, you'll see exactly what I mean. On top of that, I've been asked to take part in an Alice and Wonderland show and photo shoot. And I just finished reading the book a few months ago. I wonder if I'm being sent a message? And if so, what it is? Eat me? Drink me? I'm late? Hahaha.
This morning I woke up very late, which was nice. I had a dream about being in Harry Potter, only I lived in LA, and I was very worried because I'd lost my wand and I couldn't find it, and I needed to fight somebody with it.
When I woke up, I talked to a very nice guy from a record company that's interested in signing with me. I'm kind of nervous about it, actually. He's flying up from Los Angeles next weekend to check out my show at The Artisan Gallery on Del Paso Blvrd in Sacramento. If all goes well, look forward to seeing me on a midwest tour very soon...and also look forward to hearing new songs sooner than we all expected (I'm very poor and I still have a day job, otherwise it might have been years since any of you heard another album from me!)
That being said (the "I am poor" bit,) I very much hope that you'll make it out to Tommy T's in Rancho Cordova this tuesday for the second-to-last round of the Sacramento Has Talent contest. I've made it to the top 20 (I won with the most votes last round! Hurrah!,) but it's absolutely vital that people come to the next two rounds to help me win. All the proceeds will go towards recording the next album, and I don't know where I'll get the money for that again if I don't get it here. And the best part is, the audience votes for the winner, so please, if you can, come and support me!

THIS EVENT IS CALLING YOU. FOLLOW YOUR HEART. LOVE, AUTUMN SKY.
(I apologize for the plug, I'll go on with stuff about my life now.)
In other news, I'm thinking I might dye my hair back to red. Or maybe just a lighter brown? I've been watching Pushing Daisies, and although I think I only like the main character because we have the same taste in hairstyles (ie, bangs,) I think a lighter color might be kind of cute.
And I got promoted at work, which I would be excited about, but with all this craziness (driving to San Diego to be on tv shows, talent shows, crazy show schedules, record deals, fundraising, paying the rent,) I guess it kind of got overshadowed. Now, whenever I go to work, all I can think about is going home to write a song or play a show, or watch Matt play geometry wars, which I promise you, someday I will learn how to play.
Love,
Autumn Sky
PS
Today I wrote the snarkiest song ever.
This is me writing a new song the night our power went out in Orangevale, right in the middle of watching The Fountain. It's very irritating because, as everyone knows, The Fountain is a thinking movie and you can't keep interrupting the whole time or you won't understand it.
This is me in San Diego, filming for Your Network TV. It was around 104 degrees!
This is me, taking a nap on our way back home from SD. Obviously, I am enjoying myself...it's not a good sleep unless there was drool involved! LOL.
