Chapter 2 – Personal and Nashville Studio Wednesday Aug 12, Well, our first night in Nashville and in the studio went fantastic for “Black and White Rainbows’ and many unseen but felt souls were surely present. This is their project and I am glad they are steering me as I go. These were the first tracks of the song or the “foundation” – Drums, Bass, Keys, etc. While I am a proud country singer, I want to be sure we keep this song out of the cornfields (no fiddles here) as we want to target a large audience with an even larger issue. The song is a somewhat dark production as is the subject matter. It was my first time at this particular studio with a new studio engineer as well which always brings an artist some anxiety. As you know, the song is for addiction awareness. As soon as he heard the song, he pulled from his front pocket his seven year medallion. (My 12 step brothers and sister will understand). Is it odd???????? I was back on the bus and in bed by midnight. Thank you all who support this project on behalf of those we have lost and those we hope NOT too . Thursday, Aug 13, I love watching the songs grow and come to life. Today, we are in yet another studio across town to add background vocals and fiddle’s to my new album tracks as well as “Black and White Rainbows”. I always surround myself with the best and have been very fortunate to be able to call many of these “bests” my friends. Russ Terrell is one of those “bests” and is an in demand background singer. He is as neat as he is talented. While you may not recognize his name, you surely have heard him many times if you have ever heard a Lonestar or Keith Urban song. Cindy Shelton also added vocals and always blows my mind. I always plan the session when I know she is not out on the road with Lee Ann Womack. Then, Andy Leftwich (from the Ricky Scaggs Band) added some kick’n fiddle to the duet with Bonnie Tyler as well as the dance and radio mix of “Love Attack”. WOW – did most of them in one take. Another highlight of the night was seeing and listening to my dad as he joined a local band with his Mando – The crowd went wild and I was a proud son as always. I write this as we are about to enter the studio on August 14th, Today is mix day which will be long and crucial in making much of the year’s recordings come together. My mind is also 1,300 miles away and back in VT as my son Kyle gets his senior pictures taken today. I am bothered because: 1. I know he’s nervous. 2. Because dad’s not there, 3. Because he is getting his SENIOR pictures taken. Just yesterday he was getting on a school bus for the first time,) and 4 - Because dad’s not there (did I already mention that)? Keenan is beginning football practice this week and I will get to be a bench bum again soon. Danny, Kyle and Keenan – dad misses you – say your prayers please. I have many meetings today also while at the studio as well as a radio interview. Friends, a dilemma for which I knew would someday come, enters the scene today. I never wanted to mention my recent relationship with chemo therapy and know it will be brought up today on live radio. While I don’t view the ordeal as negative, I have never been one to discuss personal or unconstructive issues. Between us though, I do view the adventure as adding neat harmonies to my version of America’s soundtrack which is what I think country music is. Anyhow, I get a bit tired but with help from a few great friends and family I get through and leave the ordeal where it is – in my rearview mirror. I confess to being a bit afraid of my re-entrance back into a world for which I lived for most of my life. It seems good to know that I have friends in radio and in the biz that are “with me”. In many ways, well, I guess it’s the only life I know. Speaking of rearview mirrors, I hope to be out of the studio with the driver heading the windshield towards home. We have a few issues to deal with some issues involving a bit of a crazed “fan” – (weird huh) (I still hate the word “fan” and prefer “Friend”). It’s been a new and somewhat scary challenge and I hope that is behind us as well. August 15th, 1:14 A.M The Mix went well and again, I can’t wait to get it out to you. As hoped, we are homebound and Korene and I are sitting at the table listening to the songs as the wheels roll beneath us. Kyle and Keenan – clean the house – Ill be home soon!!!! This all brings back many memories and thank you for being there for most of them. August, 16th 2:17 P.M – HOME (darn it, grass needs mow’n) Thank You So much all. God Bless. Your turn again!!!!! God Bless. Wayne Warner PS - Thank you all, Dad, Korene, Juanita, Stephan, Allan, Alden, Pete B and Bob F – we got it done, again, A Message From The Melodical Hearts Foundation. Excerpt from “Black and White Rainbows”: I know the pain, well it won’t ever stop The hurt is the gift; you’re worth every tear drop If life is a mountain, then you’re on the top We’ll be right down here, with memories we’ve got Wayne has agreed to allow the song “Black and White Rainbows” to be co-written by those who have been taken (he does believe they’re involved) and by those who remain still afflicted. Therefore, it is our goal to have thousands of “songwriters” listed among the credits of this song, resulting in a CD booklet filled with names of those representing the urgency of this deadly epidemic, The Melodical Hearts Foundation is thrilled by this exceptionally unique approach that will raise funds to promote this project, to insight media attention, and memorialize those we have lost in an abrupt and tragic way like no other. Songwriter contributions can be made by individuals, families, communities, businesses, web sites, etc. The more names we have, the LOUDER this gets. Example of Songwriter Credits: “BLACK AND WHITE RAINBOWS” Writers: Wayne Warner for R. Thompson, Pam for Kelli, Julie for Eddie Danforth, The Lowell Family for Timmy, Bianca for Travis, J. Tetreault for Amanda, Danny for Brian Dunn, Friskel Enterprises for Herbert Livingston, www.{sitenamehere}.com for Jackie M… The Melodical Hearts Foundation, at Wayne’s request, has made this our top priority. We would like the song recorded and the video made as quickly as possible, so we can let our loved ones’ message be heard in an effort to save lives. We need your help to do this. To pay tribute to your loved one and memorialize them in a unique and powerful way, please consider a tax-deductible contribution of $100 to add their name to the list of songwriters. After all, it is their voices as individuals who have cried out the need for awareness. Now, united and immortalized in song, they can be heard louder and more compellingly as a symphony of angels. As Wayne mentioned in his letter, photos are also needed for the associated video, bringing faces to those we have lost which make up the “colors of our rainbows”. While only a limited number of photos can be used in a three minute video, we urge you to submit yours with your angel’s story/information and permission for use. We promise to use as many as we possibly can. All monetary contributions will be used for the production of the “Black and White Rainbows” video, the pressing of the CDs, printing of the accompanying artwork, as well as for promotional tools used to get your loved one’s voice heard in schools, churches, etc. PLEASE HELP SPREAD THIS LETTER NATIONWIDE!
