So I am sitting in front of my computer and readin an article on this video game site, and it was about this game called Bully, where in it, you play as a student, and earn a reputation as a bully, or such. The thing that caught my eye, was that there is a school group who had to approve the game to see if it is ok for people to play. Um, get off your high horse pal. Its a shame we live in a world were we must get constant approval on video games. Now I kinda understand why they did with this game, it is made by the makers of Grand Theft Auto, the video game whipping boy. So here is my thing, I have played video games my entire life, Ive owned a Nintendo, Genesis, Super Nintendo, all the Game Boys, Dreamcast, X-Box, the Playstations, X-Box 360, and a Mac, so I know my way around the gaming community. Ive heard the goverment make statments saying that videos games are corrupting the youth of America. So I say this, its a crock of horse crap. They blame the kids for doing violent things after playing games, for copying them. So here is my side, the companies who make these video games go by a system by the ESRB, which rates each game, fro E for everyone, to T for teen, the M for mature, and even A for adult, which there has never been a game released that has drawn that rating. And with these ratings, the stores who sell these games sell them to only the age group they are for, so a 14 year old wants Halo, thats a no no, cause mature is 17 and up. So wait, if the ratings system stops the wrong age group from buying the game, how do the kids get the game in the first place. This is where I belive the problem comes from, the parents. Mind you, im not bashing the parent's actions, but its not fair to say that the games are bad for kids when you are the one buying them in the first place. The same way with the kids who shoot up the schools, what their parents are doing is blaming games like Doom for the kids behavior, well then, do your damn job as a parent and see what your kids are playing. And if you wanna hit video games for bad stuff, hit them all. Like Sonic, which has a casino level, promoting gambling, are Need for Speed, racing cars and running from the cops. Even Mario, because what kind of flowers make you shoot fireballs, or what kind of mushrooms make you grow big. Seriuosly let this buisness be, because while they bash video games, you can see worst on TV, and on the internet. And thats opinion on that.
