Ok I thought id do a blog since I haven't done one in ages. This one is about the top 25 bands in Scotland. Its brought on by the Doghouse weekender that will feature 25 bands over a few days the bands have been picked by a panel of 5 judges from all over Scotland consisting of

Craig McGee

Grant Dickson

Jim Gellatly

Paul Grieve

Vic Galloway

I thought id get your opinion on who you think the top 25 bands are. It gives you a chance to see if your choices have been picked by the judges too.

Here's the full line up excluding two bands

Sixpeopleaway
Luva Anna
The Brogues
The Essentials
Big Big Sound
The Leatherettes
The Grace Emilys
Descartes
Twin Atlantic
Hi 5 Alive
The Invisibles
The Draymin
Beatnic Prestige
Root System
The Penny Blacks
The Apple Scruffs
The Getdowns
Dave?
Kobai
Our Name Legion
The Carellos
Page 6
Broken Records

Now remember you can pick any genre of band only thing is it would nice if you picked some of the best of the unsigned bands in Scotland instead of going straight for ones like The View and The Fratellis. Also if you can put a link to the bands of your choice that would be great, so other people can check them out easier.

I've done my top 25 but when I wrote the names of the acts down it came closer to the 50 mark so I'm sure you wont have trouble getting 25.

Here's my choices…

Good idea, this, I haven't heard most of these bands, but I will soon! Mr Gavin McGinty has to be worth checking out for the name alone. Pleased to see The Invisibles in there too, smashin'.

The Low Miffs get my vote: easily the most impressive Scottish band I've heard in the last 5 years, and that's saying something given the recent explosion of talent in God's Country. Must be seen live for the full effect.

Also, for haters of The View (which I'm not, but they are), there's El Padre.

And, obviously, the mighty King Creosote.

Friday First 2005-2009

this isnt an aggrsive comeback or anything but why would you try to keep the list indie?? surely a great band is a great band??? i couldnt put a tg on our sound my band Fridayfirst, its rock i think we are a real up and coming act, we have a tour of belgium and germany for next ar and are recording our debut full length in march in london, the tracks on our page jsut now have got us major supports, tours, independant label interest and they where all done in my friends living room, listen through it all .... i dare you to complete at least the first song on the oage ha ha also check out Pmx our big brothers, these guys have toured the whole of europe and canada, real veterans another mazing band who certinly arent indie, then there my actions your exit, hell johnny and a lot of non indie bands, it shouldnt be so closed you know??
