Oh and all the reviews are from Ian unless otherwise statedOzmosis
This young London MC is a bit of a political poet well that is according to his brilliant track Imagine (The Dreamer). A song that features the melody of the John Lennon classic Imagine. The lyrics are all about the major things that go in the world today. Not only do we like it for that it goes surprising well with the Imagine melody. His other tracks are great too with the perfect selection of beats to accompany his voice. He is one of the best English rappers I've heard in ages. He also has done some tracks with his friends alternative band, which works really well. Definitely worth check out if your into some thing new to you.

This unknown band to us Scots hail from Ireland, you may have seen their video for Sixteen on late night Mtv2 or even on Youtube. That's where I spotted them. Their video for sixteen is fantastic just a great simple concept, I hate it when bands try to hard on videos it takes the attention away from the music. Anyway if your like me and miss good old bands like The Cure but love modern music like Interpol then this is the missing link between the two, Perfect combo in my opinion. Their tunes are a mix of pop and new wave songs that are bound to please. A song I'm sure you'll all really like is Out Tonight. It's a bit of a new wave anthem I am surprised it isn't played in the indie clubs here. With catchy hits they have there is no doubt this band can only get bigger, look out for them hitting the big time on our shores soon.
For fans of the Cure, Interpol, the Editors and Snow Patrol.

Its tranquil its upbeat its brilliant its quite hard to fit Asobi Seksu in to a specific genre. With the mix of dance, epic and shoe gaze anthems. With a great overlay of the soft vocals. They remind me of Camera Obscura a little, albeit a more upbeat Camera Obscura which is always a good thing. Their stand out track I would say is "Thursday". Nice thumping bass drum all throughout the track entwined with dreamy vocals. The video is well worth checking out too, it fits along nicely with the song. Recently the band were on a European tour, I am pretty gutted I missed them but I assume they shall be hitting the uk shores again soon, since they have just released a single here titled "Strawberries". go and buy it along with their back catalogue.

What do you get when four classical trained musicians decide to experiment with a few unique instruments? You get Amiina. They started out as a string quartet playing along side some bands most notably Sigur Ros. They have also worked with the band on a number of tracks to date. Some of which have become absolute favourites of mine and can be heard or the b sides to the single "Vaka". I have just recently watched some videos of Amiina on Youtube and was surprised to see their live set up. They play a number of instruments during their songs. it's a case of casual walking over to the next instrument and picking it up and playing without any hesitation. Although I say pick up and play, the instruments they play include wine glasses, bells and a musical saw. Not very conventional but neither is their music. It's the perfect accompaniment to a quiet night in or a cure to a stressful day.

A band I first saw by complete chance, supporting White Rose Movement at King Tuts in Glasgow last December.
They gave off an impressive air and played an excellent set, even though it was only 6 songs. I've seen them half a dozen times or so since then and they have impressed me more on each occasion.
Their sound has been compared to the likes of Placebo, Interpol and Smashing Pumpkins, but in my opinion the songs are each so varied that the similarities are minimal at best.
When first seeing them, the drummer, Kevin, reminded me of Travis Barker (with a Mohawk and, once he removed his shirt, a body of tattoos). The irony in that comparison became even stronger when, in February, the band supported +44 in Belgium and the Netherlands as part of their European tour.
Mark Hoppus was so impressed by the band that he's now producing their debut album in his studio in America.
I expect big things to come from the Stornoway 4-piece, and rightly so.
