Who Gives Kudos:

Saturday, February 03, 2007

I have never written a blog before. What is a blog anyway? The few I have read seemed a little narcissistic. (is that spelled right?) Like just talking about yourself and your life and what you did that day....but I'm here so I might as well say something significant. It's frustrating to stay creative and motivated when you are constantly struggling and trying to find the right footing in an industry of materialism and image. That pretty much sums it up. And thank you guys for the beautiful and encouraging  comments. They make me feel like I'm not wrong in thinking I am here to make music and poetry, even if I'm not where I thought I'd be. Blessings. Love. Vegan pancakes.

Hey Gina. Curtis Meyer of Winter Park, Florida. Slam poet for Team Orlando 2005 and 2006. Big fan of your work. Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I know we haven't met, but please don't be alarmed, I subscribed to all my favorite poets' blogs.

1) "Narcissistic" is spelled correctly.

2) The word "blog" comes from the a combination of "Web," as in "World Wide Web," and "log," as in "Captain's log: Stardate..." Essentially, it's a shortened form of "web-log."

3) Although, others use their blogs in a journalistic sense cataloging daily events, talking about last night's episode of their favorite show, et cetera, I prefer to use mine to post new poems, song lyrics, short stories, and get feedback, or cut-and-paste text from articles of interest found in the news online that my subscribers may not have read themselves, usually pertaining to civil rights violations (I'm Majoring in Journalism). They're also great for advertising events ("Poetry slam at [venue] this [day of week] guys! Bring your friends!" or "Party at my house! Bring Food!" et cetera), or posting youtube clips that can be seen by a wider audience.

Gina,

Firstly, blessings right back, you inspire like Euterpe. Thank you for gifting us with your word. I saw your band website but no opportunity to purchase a cd?! I think it's a crime you aren't signed. Truly. The 30 second snippets are a terrible teaser if you can't buy the rest. Hell, I'd pay 20$ for a burned copy of your stuff right off your computer in a plain empty case. Stay strong. Nirvana released Bleach for less than $700.00. Things can happen fast. I hope it will happen for you, because you have been given remarkable gifts and this world needs you to do what you do!

narcissistic (yes you spelled it correctly...;)
like fingernails on the chalkboard...
it hurts more when you hear it than when you do it...
but i don't want to talk about eric in the third person...
and i'll be damned if you're gonna make him--uhmmm, i mean me...
i know and share your frustration and am glad that you continue to press through...
so here's to keepin' the balance...
cheers!

good morning gina,

i remember your poetry from def poetry, and you are amazing. not only are you incredibly talented as a poet, but you showed that you also can sing your heart out too. yes, you are blessed with beauty, but im not a shallow person, so i can see that that beauty is from the inside, and just so happens to exude outward, making you and your words glow so naturally. welcome to myspace and blogging. it's not narcisstic, and yes you spelled it right. lol. blog for fun and don't think about it, sort of like how you pen your poetry. just feel it, embrace and write it. that's what i do. i sent you a request to come visit my blogging area. know you are busy, but hopefully, you will get a chance to come over and visit, and subscribe, and share with me your lovely thoughts on my words. have a wonderfully day.

Knew Experiences

Well- just be your self and don't let anything else bother you - you make music and write poems - do that - the rest will take cae of itself - of course the degree of which you wish to live yur dream depends on the paradigm that the 21st century now imposes- that means publishing, PR, Marketing etc these thing have been and will be ecc1:9 so if you are doin gnow then it's more than likely someone did it 2000 years ago- you more than likely haven't existed before - I do not know what type of entity you are perheaps you transmorgrified into your present form - who knows anyways I should be studying so ... the ansert o your question after my long diatribe is that blogs just help people their thoughts out like poetry to you - and also I think they came into existence( my own hypothesis) because people were online buszy writing to other people ( case in point) and not focussing on themselves.

1 cannot fully appreciate another til 1 fullt loves, experiences and appreciates 1self.
