Current mood:  contemplative

One week into my getaway tour to Chicago in beautiful sunny atumn weather here.  And what a fine place Chicago is, really love the down town life and the organised suburbs, straight from The Truman Show!

Can't believe the distances involved to get to gigs and feeling for my host and organiser of this trip, Doc Bob Macdonald.  He and co conspiritor Dan Powers have been fantastic in their organising, hostipality and taxi service.

Bob saw me play in Aberdeen around 12 years ago and bought a CD, which he thankfully played a lot ever since.  And out of the blue a few month's ago, I received an email from him asking if I'd concider coming to play in Chicago.  Being the impulsive maniac I am, and probably to Bob's anxiety, I said yes and here I am.

Bob and Dan have been great in contacting many, many venues about gigs for me.  Most said no due to the Cubs and White Sox playoffs and the fact the bars will be packed anyway.

However, the gigs so far have gone well, especially the Ballydoyle in Downer's Grove and recently the Galway Tribes in Frankfort.  And I must say a big thankyou to Katie Sullivan for her help and hostpitality on that one and good luck for her tour to Ireland later this month.

And a special thankyou to Teresa Moore, a Myspace 'buddy', who fly all the way from Detroit to here me at the Ballydolye, thanks Teresa.

Also, to Herb and Teresa Troster for heading over from Iowa to see me at the Galway Tribes.  I wrote the song 'The Songs You Sang For Me' on my new CD (And Then The Birds In Spring Again) about Herb, who I'd met years ago in Utah.

More to follow....

Teresa

There ya go...a great blog from an excellent singer! You deserve only praise for your manic impulse and Bob and Dan's organizing ability.

Dr. Bob and Mr. Dan figured out early on that being an agent is hard work--another fulltime job--but obviously this appears to be a labor of love--love of live music, love of your voice, love of their hometown. Kudos to them, too.

It's great that the USA gets a chance to listen to you in person. And I, of course didn't have far to go to hear and meet you. I wish we had half the venues they have in Chicagoland, especially the Irish pubs. What a cool city Chicago is.

Please, Please come back next year!! And consider another CD so we can get another fix of your wonderful voice.

MODEST TO A FAULT,YOURE SO GENUINELY HONEST AND UNPRETENTIOUS ITS AMAZING,WITH IS AN ENDEARING QUALITY COUPLED WITH YOUR ABILITY TO TAKE SONGS AND DO WHAT YOU DO WITH THEM,BOTH YOURS AND THOSE OF OTHERS.....

ITS A SHAME I COULDNT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ATTEND WITH TERESA MOORE,BUT MAYBE THERE'S A WAY,IN CHICAGO OR SOMEWHERE ELSE ALONG THE LINE

IVE LISTENED TO YOUR CD SO MANY TIMES AND I FIND MYSELF LIKING YOUR OWN SONGS AS MUCH IF NOT MORE THAN THOSE OF OTHERS YOU SING,

YOURE DEFINITELY THE REAL DEAL! AN UNCOMMON MUSICALITY AND HONESTY THAT COMMUNICATES. I HOPE IM NOT OVERDOING IT,BECAUSE I MEAN EVERY WORD!

Trying  to impress a English folkie Mary who's living in Torry and loves your kind of Irish folk  so in checking  if playing in town find  instead playing "In the City Of Chicago ...." was going to book a flight but have to go to snug in Ma Cameron instead with Jamus from Dublin to hear Davie Dow singing arkipel..... unaccompanied.

Enjoy Bill
