The most awaited movie for 2009 is out already? COOOOOOOOOL!

Watchmen is the latest vision from Zack Snyder. While I wasn't really a fan of 300 and had no original intention of seeing this, the superb Dawn of the Dead remake and a Smashing Pumpkin song made me change my mind.

I have never read a comic book in my life, however I am interested in superheroes and learned everything I needed to know by watching the 90's Batman, X-Men and Spiderman cartoons. So like I said, I never read a comic book, so I have NO IDEA who the Watchmen are, and that mystery intrigued me. Finally a movie I can enjoy as everything will be new and surprising! I even avoided everything I could from discovering anything. I was however miffed when I saw the true trailer and discovered that Rocrschach was one of them and not the villian like I orginially though. I thought he would have made a better bad guy anyways.

The movie opens up with one of the most one sided beatings I have ever seen. It's like The Hulk beating up Mr. Rodgers. Cut to a bunch of crap that is confusing the hell of me. Boy, did I really ask for it. I have NO IDEA what is going on. It was pretty uncomfortable. I felt like leaving as I figured I wouldn't be able to get into it. So we are introduced to the Watchmen, which is filled with sexists, assholes, machochists, rapists, and murderers. Oh, wait, that's just the Comedian.

So the Watchmen are superheroes who are past their prime, and I really don't get why they became super heroes in the first place as they really don't give a shit. Blowing up buildings causing chaos, punching out protesters and then gunning them down doesn't seem all to heroic to me. This is all put out by actors that seem really bored with being there. All of them didn't really do anything to flesh out their characters witht he execption of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jackie Earle Haley. Only they seemed to want to do a good job, and they succeeded.

Then the story actually picked up some and I could finally follow it. It wasn't a mindless action flick after all. There was substance and things finally made sense.

One of the watchmen gets murdered and one of them has the sense to track down the killer. While they originally think that someone is taking out costumed heroes, the real reason is actually pretty badass, as it actually pretty selfless, even though many deaths have to occur.

This all followed by an ending that was dumb, pointless, retarded, and just overall not needed. Seriously, why did they think that was a good idea? It left a real bad taste in my mought that they decided to go with this. The movie would have been fine 5 minutes shorter. BAD WRITERS....BAD!

The writing was brilliant, but as previously stated, it sadly fell flat, as most of the actors just didn't care. It seemed like there was only one Watchmen as they pretty much the majority of them acted alike.

The costumes could have used more work. They didn't really wow me. Especially Ozymandias'. He looked like a total dumbass in that thing. he was ultra rich, and I think a little gay, so couldn't he have the sense to create a better costume? Weirdo.

Rating: Overall it was pretty good. Good plot, and enough to keep me interesting until the end. Would be a perfect 5/5, however, because Malin Akerman, Billy Cruddup and Patrick Wilson, just didn't give a damn, 4/5.
