Hey all,
Labretta Suede and the Motel 6 have been on the road
for a about 3 weeks now and so far things have been great, with so many
great stories, places and people.
Thanks New Zealand for your
support at the final show it was killer and also thanks to Melbourne
for the great shows their. The Tote was rockin'!
Original
drummer Bumbo is missed as he was not able to come for the whole
duration of the tour due to other matters. Therefore Isaac Androidd
from the late 70's NZ punk band The Androidds has been filling in. (
and doing a sterling job). However the return of Bumbo is on it's way,
he will be visiting to record the next album with the band in Kansas
very soon.
The band have hit the mother fuckin' ground running..
with shows throughout the California region including the legendary
Viper Room - see photos of their USA tour on myspace.
The band
have also been commissioned by fans from a town called Bishop, CA to stop
by and play a house party. Everyone loves house parties and this was
the best ever! Roughly 200 people crammed into a room while the band
created a fervor that was unreal. (Thanks Bishop - it was a log
stompin' good time, with Jolly-wags beyond the eye could see)Bishop a
place all bands should stop - the hospitality was beyond words and
their love for music is simply purrr-fect!
Then off the band
fled through the notorious Death Valley, with no Air -Conditioning as
that was kindly taken out by the bass player when wildly carouseling
out of control into a deer, just out of Yosemite nation park. It was a
big mother too!
However, moving right along - the car still worked and the band are safe....
Death
Valley
was something else at high-noon at about 40C....sweaty crazy
madness... very much like 'Fear and Loathing' especially when being
straifed by F18 Hornets .... it felt like the world was going to end
and the ground was going to swallow the band whole - only to come
through the
other side to the bright light city of Las Vegas! Staying at the
infamous Saraha Hotel one of Las Vegas oldest Hotels/Casinos to date
(where Elvis stayed). Cocktails at the poolside and fun times!
Las
Vegas live Rock 'n' Roll venue 'The Double Down Saloon' was everything
that Vegas is cracked up to be - Vegas did not disappoint! Playing with
band Thee Swank Bastards whose Hulla-Hoopin' grind stripper was
everything the band had hoped for and the music was good too I might
add.... But her crashing her breast together to the sound of the
cymbals is burnt into our brains....while still hulla-hoopin'.... Then
it was Labretta Suede and The Boys turn and they tore the house down!
That night was
loaded with so much fun that no sleep was to be had - then off to catch
the early 6am flight to Houston... with time changes and all the band
were absolutely farked! Once their heads hit pillows they were out cold
for the whole day they were ready for their next show... Mark the
organiser of the show and who also played in most of the bands that
night has opened his door to the band - he is probably thinking will
they ever leave?
Nicole, Mark and Courtney have been super new
flat mates and have been helping the band find a new band wagon to
continue with their tour ....
The band have also had offers
from all over to play more shows so the tour dates continue..... last
night was fun when they were invited to play a Roller Derby Belt in
Houston, memories of home... Roller Derby Rules!!! People loved the
show, and it was wonderful to put faces and personalities to friends
made via the internet cyber world. Dem Derby gals are a fun and lovely
breed... Thanks South Side Rollers! They band were also joining in the
line dancing mayhem that went down and the roller derby after party at
'The Nutty Bar'. - photos coming soon!
Well off to continue on the band wagon hunt.... will keep updating this blog so keep your eyes peeled.
