Hi everyone

Some of you may have heard that we were in a pretty serious accident today. We are all pretty much fine- all walking and talking and all of that- just a little sore and a little shaken.

After stopping at a fruit stand at about 3pm today, we got back on highway I-94E headed towards Toronto. At about 3:15, on the other side of the highway, a semi-truck moved into the left lane, not seeing the car that was there, and sent the car flying out of control over the meridian and right at us. The car hit us in the back and sent us flying onto our side, at which point we slid quite a ways down the road. Everyone was wearing a seatbelt except for Dave and Brian, but they and all of the rest of us luckily came out fine! the other car was also remarkably ok!

The whole thing was quite surreal; there were hugs and tears when we climbed out of the van. We all feel very fortunate right now to be walking around. Sorry about the canceled shows in Toronto and Montreal! We were really looking forward to coming up there again, but we will make it up to you as soon as possible!

Thank you for your concern and support. Looking forward to getting back out there and continuing to share music with our fans.

think of it like this, you know that horrible accident you allways feared? the one where you were all messed up and had the hospital staff shaking their heads? WELL YOU'VE HAD IT, so  THATS ALL OVER WITH NOW and instead of being messed up YOUR OK! I can think of no one I less want anything harmfull to happen to, I love you! Use this experience, channel the feelings into your amazing compositions, obviously this can act as inspiration, fate wants even MORE kick ass compositions from you, a very tall order demanding intense feelings!

Whoa! I'm really glad you are ok! sometimes we forget that these vehicles are huge chunks of metal traveling dangerously fast. And if for one second someone is not aware enough, they can bring about serious damage to themselves or others. A good reminder to everyone to travel as safely as possible. Especially to touring musicians. We all know what its like to get back in the van, drained after a night of exertion on stage, dehydrated, hungry (again), but willing to drive a bit through the night to find where you're gonna sleep, or to chop some time off of the next day's drive. Or, as we can see, it doesn't even have to be at night after a show.

On a much lighter note, thank you for your insanely incredible most recent album, truly one of my favorite records in my collection, and the only thing I've been listening to as of late.

it takes more than a flying car launched by a semi truck to stop this band!  Does that mean that God is a fan, then?  Methinks yes...

remember that one time when you got in a car accident before you played denver with the windup bird and your minivan had a big crater in the side of it? that was nuts.  I am glad you are all alright.

Really glad you're all ok, guys. That would have been one of the biggest tragedies to music, if anything, if things had turned out a lot worse. The world NEEDS you guys! ;)

Seriously though, i'm so, SO pleased and relieved that no-one got hurt. Hope you can get over the shakes asap too.

Take care all. x

damn.. got wind of this WAY late.  you are all warriors + champions to the nth degree.

some highly deep and rational words of encouragement::::

"Faced as we are with this destiny, there is only one world-outlook that is worthy of us, that which has already been mentioned as the Choice of Achilles -- better a short life, full of deeds and glory, than a long life without content. Already the danger is so great, for every individual, every class, every nation, that to cherish any illusion whatever is deplorable. The march of time cannot be halted; there is no question of prudent retreat or clever renunciation. Only dreamers believe there is a way out. Optimism is cowardice."

Men and Technics, Oswald Spengler

here's to a long and deeply fulfilling existence in the cosmos.  thrilled to hear that you're all ok and that hugs and tears were employed.  keep ruling.
