The title of this post borrows a phrase from our brethren in the Manimals, but we don't think they'd mind us using it here to describe our joyousness...

The Get Right Soul-Funk Showcase at the Someday Lounge last Friday night was THE BEST FEELING.
Tony Ozier and the DDF Crew were slinging the funky poo all over the room, with full-on afro wig regalia, fine-ass female vocalists, and some of the nastiest musicians in PDX laying down the stinkiest grooves you've ever smelled in your life.

When Excellent Gentlemen took the stage, the crowd was so hyped that there was nothing we could do except turn up to 11 and try our damnedest to satisfy the carnal desires of every single hot body in the room. We like to think we succeeded.

We were surrounded by one of the most enthusiastic, supportive audiences we've ever played in front of. Many in the crowd were musicians themselves, all part of this simmering PDX Soul community that keeps getting stronger. Liv Warfield, Gretchen Mitchell, Tony's crew, Julian, Barry, the McIsaac bros, Savage/Ochshorn/Baruch, and Reva... thank you for everything you do.

We're inching ever-closer to our album release, and we should be able to post some advance tracks to myspace in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait for the dance parties that lie ahead.
