Who Gives Kudos:

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

With a whole planet between us, Steve and I rarely get the chance to work together in the same time zone let alone the same room. But this summer has been different. We've just finished a three week stint writing in Buckinghamshire and have nudged nine songs very close to completion. So close, in fact, that we hope for a release early in 2007!

So far, the new album feels markedly different to Carnival of Souls. It's light on acoustic songs (there's just one, in fact) and, while the Wishing Tree's folk undertones still run in its veins, the album will have plenty of new moods and influences. I've noticed flashes of Crowded House, REM, and Fleetwood Mac to name a few.

Although Iceland, Greenland, and an awful lot of water is betwixt us once again, Steve and I will spend the upcoming months working hard to get this thing finished. A huge thank you to all of you who have sent us words of encouragement. You've no idea how much they've helped J We'll keep you posted…

Amazing sound, just amazing.  I'm an instant fan after hearing the Hollow Hills demo.  I can't wait for this album to be released.  I'm glad that you and Steve are getting the chance to get together for these recordings.  Steve is an amazing guitarist as I've recently discovered within the last few years as a fan of Marillion.  I didn't listen to a lot of different progressive music, just what I call the big 3 (seemingly most popular) Rush, Yes, and King Crimson.  Then I started listening to groups like Marillion, Gentle Giant, Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings and while not all were "my style", I loved Marillion's sound and it is obvious that Steve has a great connection with you.  The music is just wonderful.  I hope to hear more of that awesome guitar and that hauntingly beautiful voice for years to come.  Thank you for putting your art out there for people to see.

I constantly get the "who is this?" when I'm playing Wishing Tree. I would like to say I have turned people on to the band but in actuality you guys who did it because I play my music loud and it gets overheard, so I can't really take the credit. Hope all is well, & TOUR THE STATES, WILL YA? California especially.

Escher's Staircase (closing down shop)

Hi Hannah,

Subconsciously I was aware that Steve Rothery also played in Wishing Tree, but recently I was pointed to you guys, since a good friend of mine asked me if I was familiar with Wishing Tree...I said I did knew Steve Rothery was involved (I am a huge Marillion fan).

This good friend of mine told me he is a guest on your upcoming new album
...none other than Don Schiff! So here I am, checking out your myspace page...I will add you as a friend and I hope you will add me as well?

So far I really enjoyed the music I heard, so I will definitely go for the album and if possible review it for Progressive World .

Take care,

Marcel
