I picked up a hitchhiker on Guadalupe in the rain carrying a skateboard. We hit it off right away talking about the 'hoods we grew up in and various Austin experiences.
"John Eric Palmer," he introduced himself again as he got out. "All the skateboarders know me if you want to find me again."
"Ky Hote," I said. "I'm a songwriter. A lot of musicians around town know me."

It's that fame recognition thing we shared from different worlds. Beth Ann tried to explain to me that it wasn't how well known I was, or if people had actually heard of me, but there was an aura that I brought with me to let people know that I've been somewhere and lives had let me in and let me stay.

I believe John Eric's and my path will cross again.

Nice experience, Ky. Reading it, it was for me as well, since I felt like I was there; like a scene from a movie I'd watched somewhere in the past. (Then Beth pipes in with that new age hooey..... ha!)

I think it was my interpretation that made it sound like new age hooey... she talks like a Midwesterner actually...
